Business model for free apps?
Share on:

I have a good idea for an app, and a better idea for a marketing strategy for it.

For various reasons, I think it might be best to make the app free, and make the scratch on ads.

I am new to the app market (though experienced with other kinds of online marketing) and was hoping someone could tell me a few basics -
  • What click-through rates are typical? Or what range of CTR?
  • What CPC?
  • Is there any material I should read comparing freely-downloadable versus paid apps? I found this but it's from 2010.
Thanks,
Grandoid

The CTR would be 1.5-2.5 % for standard banner ads and about 10-12% for interstitial ads.
CPC depends per country and OS , which countries your looking at ?

I'm mostly looking at North America & the UK.
Ultimately, both iOS and Android, but Android first
