I have been hitting the phones the last few days contacting businesses in resort areas as they get ready for the "season" to start come Memorial Day. I have newspapers and other advertising from the local resort areas and have gone through and checked out the websites in the ads on my iphone to see who was optimized and who wasn't. Easy lead source, huh? Not so fast......... Seems very few are ready for the rush of smartphones & tablets this summer. I noticed plenty of ads with QR codes that took me to a website that is virtually useless on my iphone. I was told by a few people that they were aware their sites were not optimized for mobile and were ok with it. Go figure My problem is how do I let them know that their website is not optimized for mobile in a nice way and not insult them? Responsive sites just don't cut it as compared to optimized sites that give a better user experience in my opinion. What can I say to get their attention while dealing with a salesperson on the phone. I had a few upset people when I talked to them and made them aware their website was not user friendly on a smartphone. Also is there a good question/s to use to set up a business owner for a conversation about text message marketing? Think about it, if a business is in a resort town and people come to visit for the weekend, that is the perfect reason to use text message marketing. I just got nowhere when I mentioned text marketing and the benefits of using it. Just trying to get better at selling mobile marketing. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chuck |

It's hard to say because I don't know exactly how your approach is, or how your conversations go with your prospects, but it seems like you call them up to call them out, if you get what I mean. You're basically pointing finger and telling them that what they are doing is wrong. Nobody likes to be told they are wrong, even if they are painfully aware of it. Instead, try something like: "How is your business gearing up to accommodate the upcoming rush of tourists using their mobile phones to find local shops?" or "X number of people are searching for YOUR type of business per month. A large % of these do so from their mobile devices and are ready to buy NOW. Would you like a portion of these paying customers to come to your store?" Play around with it, but they key is to focus on their emotions and desire for more customers. I encourage you to take a look at this script by Jason Kanigan which gives a very good structure for selling mobile websites. I've used an adapted version for another service we sell, and even a guy who already knew what we are doing got very excited, and I didn't even use it to sell him, I only explained to him how my presentation had changed. Here's the link to the script: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ml#post8395688 |

Chris, thanks for the reply and I had read Jason's script a while ago but totally forgot about it. Your reply was the golden nugget I was looking for. I knew there was a better way to approach potential customers on the phone but could not figure it out on my own. I have read several of Jason's posts and he has some great sales advice. Thanks again and I guess I should thank Jason as well. Alton thank you as well for the link. Gotta love the warrior forum.............................. |
