Is anyone here building or sourcing their own tablet-based kiosks for small businesses to use for digital loyalty and rewards programs?

Hey MobileManic, I am looking for sources for the hardware - tablet and stand - to install in retail/restaurant environments. I have found some stands for iPads but at too high a cost. Just wondering what other pros are doing out there. Thanks, Ric |

As far as stands go, I have had success using the little mounts used for surroundsound satellite speakers. They are inexpensive and adjustable and can be found in lots of places. Amazon.com: Mount-it 4 Black Universal Satellite... |

Celtactics, Thanks that is awesome. How do you attach to the tablet? Are you using any type of anti-theft? Ric |

Why. I dont use ipads. If the retailer wants ipads I try to talk them out of it. $500 bucks for a checkin pad is stupid in my opinion. And people will steal ipads. I buy inexpensive (cheap) android tablets or readers and sell them to the retailer at cents above cost. I am not there to make money on hardware. The cheap ones dont get stolen and they are nothing to replace if they die. Haven't had to do that yet thankfully. I also explain to the retailer that their kiosk is useless if its stolen so "teach your employees to take care of it and keep an eye on it". That helps them keep the kids off of it. Lastly I use a kiosk app on the android tablet that keep it in kiosk mode and hides the browser so people arent checking their mail or surfing while waiting in line. Kiosk Browser is one. There are several in the play store. I have purchased many a cheap tablet from Bens Outlet. When you can get them for $50-$60 the retailer while approve a couple at least and your program gets more mileage. | |

Thanks a lot. I'm new to the game and want to offer kiosks and was going to go with the same type you use, but was trying to figure out what to do about a stand - they make great ones for iPads for only $250 lol. Thanks for all the info. Do you mind if I ask what your biz name is and who you use for a service provider? I've been in small biz sales for a long time and decided to strike out on my own as a mobile marketing consultant with websites, SMS, loyalty kiosks, mobile-optimized email, etc. Anything to help a small biz mobile-optimize. I'm in Texas. Thanks for the help! Ric |
