Harvesting cell numbers
 

I want to sell sms marketing packages. I like the concept and I like the margins. My questions regards the ability to harvest cell numbers for the business I'm soliciting. If I don't have a kiosk how do you harvest numbers? I'm talking the small business markets. Nail salons, pizza shops, small restaurants...

Harvesting numbers...makes it sound like you are wanting to obtain them from somewhere in bulk. It least that's how I read it.
Opt-ins. Thats what youre looking for. There are so many ways to get folks to opt-in. Web forms, flyers, coupons,kiosks etc. The list is long, but the commonality is the same. They need to opt-in (request) to be part of your list.
Granted you can usually upload a previously opted in list to most platforms via a spreadsheet.

Yes, agreed. Opt-in is the verbage you're looking for. Harvesting makes it sound like you're getting numbers without permission and are looking to send SPAM.

Web-based forms, cards, flyers, signage in the store that will have the keyword and number to text to opt-in, some stores will put the info on their receipts, etc..
