Why would she cut off the tails of the three blind mice with a carving knife? How cruel. And why were all three of them blind? Did she do that as well?

Hmmm. Too much time spent with Thunderbird junior, age 5, I think.

That's interesting, I looked at that link and see over here it's "Ring a ring a roses" (as in the flower) and across the pond you use your version.

      Common British versions include:

      Ring-a-ring o' roses,
      A pocket full of posies,
      A-tishoo! A-tishoo!

      We all fall down.

      Common American versions include:

      Ring-a-round the rosie,
      A pocket full of posies,
      Ashes! Ashes!

      We all fall down.

A buddy in Colorado sent me a book a few years ago titled Monster Goose. It took nursery rhymes and skewered them. Here's a sample:

There was an old zombie who lived in a shoe.
She had so many maggots, she didn't know what to do.
So she soaked them in soapsuds and painted them green.
She'll be giving them out next Halloween.

The book comes complete with appropriate illustrations.

Sal, 59, has some questions, too.

Who was the adult who actually wrote sick and twisted stuff like this.

Can we assume these macabre tales may have been allegory that either has been lost or that didn't quite get it's meaning across in the first place?

I've just seen something on the internet (so it must be true) that the farmer's wife was cutting off mouse tails to prepare her for her trip to the Middle East to join ISIS.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I believe cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in mice.
