What I've found is merchants make refunds in the same way payment was made. If you paid by credit card - they will refund to a credit card.

What you've listed is basic credit card information (no SS or birth date, for instance).

I don't see a risk if this is company/person you've dealt with. If you want the money back you have to provide the info they need.

Isn't it the same info you provided 2 years ago when you paid for the traffic...except different credit card?

Proper business etiquette, at least with credit lines, is to use the SAME vehicle to pay it back. If they paid you via cash, for example, you could decline the charge, and they lose money! The SAME is true via check, although more may simply pay you cash. Cash will be repaid by cash, if in person, though they may prefer a check, etc... to leave a paper trail.

I am not sure how they could refund into another credit card account.

      This.

It isn't normally possible to do this. It would need (according to most countries' anti-money-laundering banking regulations, I think - and according to most credit-card companies' policies and procedures) to be refunded to the same credit-card from which it was paid.

So I'm not quite so confident about the legitimacy of this, myself.

This sounds right, to me. I would expect a refund by direct deposit or check, in these circumstances, regardless of the fact that the original payment was made by credit-card.

      Indeed ... exactly so.

Why does such a simple question turn into a debate? The OP asked whether to provide basic information to obtain a refund. Answer: YES, if you want the refund.

If he has a merchant will to refund after 2 years....and willing to refund to his current credit card account.....YES, he needs to provide basic personal information.

The idea is to tie it to the earlier transaction. If they got into a court case, or a dispute, it makes things easier.
