A very sad day in the music world. We lost Jack Bruce today, one of the absolute greatest bass players of our time.

    Another legend passes into the mists of time.

    RIP Jack.

    Here he is with Ginger Baker and that other bloke.


    And here he is with another lost legend. Apparently there's some controversy about whether he actually played the bass on this track. Bruce claims he played cello on it, but Zappa claims he did play bass. He's credited as a co-writer of the track though, and it is a great bit of bass playing, so I'm leaning towards Zappa's version of the story.

      The title track Apostrophe is probably my favorite Zappa song and one of my all time favorite songs over all with very unique sounds.

      If I remember correctly, on the album Jack Bruce was given credit for playing the "stun bass". I have no idea what that is and never saw the term again. Whatever he's playing, it sounds cool.
