I'm not ashamed to admit it made me cry. Where's the crying emoticon?
Poor kids, so young to lose their dad and they never had a mom.

    • A tragic loss, and an icon forever - his kids will now become the centre of attention - Shame on the media!
  • I really didn't care for MJ music but he had my utmost respect. Took life and made it into what he wanted.

    • It was a very moving memorial, especially that part.

Mariah Carey did a great job on "I'll be there".

There were a lot of touching moments.

Images on TV of that kid crying was very emotional.Michael was one of the few persons in the planet who achieve near perfection in what they do.But i wish he would have been disciplined in his personal life too, should have tried to live a normal life and not gone over the top with the material wealth he acquired. And the all the drugs that he did.
  • RIP Michael...I have to admit...it also brought a tear to my eye...sad sad day especially for his 3 kids.
  • Indeed it's very touching. I was watching the clips and you tube again and again. YouTube - Michael Jackson Funeral - We Are The World & Heal The World
  • RIP Michael Jackson. I feel very sorry for the 3 children, they have all the money but are without a father.
  • It was really sad Really. I will miss him

I am really sorry for the kids

    • The man was a musical genius who did the very best he could with the pain he was dealt in life. It's his children now who need all the love and support in the world. I hope their lives continue with the gentleness and kindness their father gave them. Poor little cherubs.
  • Long Live MJ!!! The King!

I've NEVER witnessed anyone dying and the world stopping today for a brief moment to pay tribute to this legendary icon.

Not the country or the state or the city or the neighborhood or the household of the deceased...

    THE WORLD.

Very touching speech by that little angel of his.
  • Maybe Im just getting cynical in my old age but I wonder how voluntary her appearance was? Michael Jackson did a pretty okay job at shielding those children from the media when he was alive, but now his daughter is put on stage in front of thosands of people (and millions on TV) in the middle of one of the most painful experiences any child can go through? And is told to "speak up!"?

It's not so much heartbreaking, as bloody shameful.

In fact, the whole thing seems pretty debauched: crocodile tears from the man's "friends" who were nowhere to be seen when he was alive; his own father plugging his record company when talking about funeral arrangements; and his brothers planning to re-form the Jackson 5 as a "tribute" to their dead brother.

What happened to respect for the dead? I'm sitting here wondering if, apart from his children, there is anybody among his family or "friends" who doesn't see his death as anything other than a means to re-ignite their own stagnating careers?

    Tommy.

    • I have to agree with you there on some points - in particular in regards to his kids. I said the exact same thing to my partner - how MJ kept his kids so well hidden from the media and as soon as he is gone there they are right in front of millions of people. Would he have wanted that? no-one can say for sure.

What we can say is that mourning and greiving for a loved one lost is something no-one can ever be prepared for and no-one ever knows what ones true reaction to it will be. I'm sure his family had nothing but the best intentions having his daughter speak - and I'm sure she would have wanted to say good bye to her father just like many others did - it took alot of guts.

This is why I tend to believe that the Memorial Service in honour of Micheal Jackson served its purpose and paid tribute to a wonderful performer and a loving father.

I feel deeply saddened for his children and their loss and wept through his service myself - a truly sad day.
  • He was indeed the greatest entertainer that ever lived and that is something his children will forever be proud of.

  • Maybe she wanted to speak out. It's his only funeral, her only chance. Maybe she was told to speak up cause she was crying so much she couldn't talk loud. There were many real tears there and nobody is trying to relaunch a career right now.

I hope I never get as cynical as you Tommy no matter how old.

  • how sad. michael jackson is truly and icon. we will remember him forever.
  • Whether she wanted to be their, or was paraded in front of the audience doesn't matter. Her emotions were still real.

To his kids, MJ was their daddy. Her pain was real. Being a loving father myself, I was able to empathize, and my eyes welled up at that point.

That being said, there were times when my eyes rolled up at some of what was said. Granted, I've only seen clips.

    All the best,
    Michael
  • Even i was a great fan of MJ and his death really made me sad.....I hope MJ rests in peace
  • man, I heard about that, but actually I saw it here the first time. It make loose some tears.

  • Haven't really cared for his funeral, so I'm not really moved by it. But that's my opinion.
  • Yeah, it was pretty sad to see her up on that stage. No child should see any of his or her parents die before they are old enough to really accept it.
  • She just doesn't understand. But one day she will.
  • I think it was good that she was able to express her grief, but I hope now the media leave the kids alone, they have enough to cope with and although he did a lot of odd things, he did always keep the media away from them.
  • I hate when people USE children in live television. What the hell was that girl doing there? And why? Sick people.

    • You're cold hearted.

And you too. Maybe she wanted to pay respects to her dad! If I were her I would too. He only gets one funeral and she wanted to tell the world she loved him. Nothing sick about letting people know you love someone especially your Dad when they just died.

  • This is so sad. No one can love them as their dad did. This is a tragic loss for both the music industries and his family. I believe they will fulfill their father's dreams.
  • Very sad indeed.

Wish though many in the media would look at MJ as the cause of death an no one else. He is 50 and knows what he is putting in his body.
