Images on TV of that kid crying was very emotional.Michael was one of the few persons in the planet who achieve near perfection in what they do.But i wish he would have been disciplined in his personal life too,should have tried to live a normal life and not gone over the top with the material wealth he acquired.And the all the drugs that he did.

The man was a musical genius who did the very best he could with the pain he was dealt in life. It's his children now who need all the love and support in the world. I hope their lives continue with the gentleness and kindness their father gave them. Poor little cherubs.

Maybe Im just getting cynical in my old age but I wonder how voluntary her appearance was? Michael Jackson did a pretty okay job at shielding those children from the media when he was alive, but now his daughter is put on stage in front of thosands of people (and millions on TV) in the middle of one of the most painful experiences any child can go through? And is told to "speak up!"?

It's not so much heartbreaking, as bloody shameful.

In fact, the whole thing seems pretty debauched: crocodile tears from the man's "friends" who were nowhere to be seen when he was alive; his own father plugging his record company when talking about funeral arrangements; and his brothers planning to re-form the Jackson 5 as a "tribute" to their dead brother.

What happened to respect for the dead? I'm sitting here wondering if, apart from his children, there is anybody among his family or "friends" who doesn't see his death as anything other than a means to re-ignite their own stagnating careers?

I have to agree with you there on some points - in particular in regards to his kids. I said the exact same thing to my partner - how MJ kept his kids so well hidden from the media and as soon as he is gone there they are right in front of millions of people. Would he have wanted that? no-one can say for sure.

What we can say is that mourning and greiving for a loved one lost is something no-one can ever be prepared for and no-one ever knows what ones true reaction to it will be. I'm sure his family had nothing but the best intentions having his daughter speak - and I'm sure she would have wanted to say good bye to her father just like many others did - it took alot of guts.

This is why I tend to believe that the Memorial Service in honour of Micheal Jackson served its purpose and paid tribute to a wonderful performer and a loving father.

I feel deeply saddened for his children and their loss and wept through his service myself - a truly sad day.

Maybe she wanted to speak out. It's his only funeral, her only chance. Maybe she was told to speak up cause she was crying so much she couldn't talk loud. There were many real tears there and nobody is trying to relaunch a career right now.

I hope I never get as cynical as you Tommy no matter how old.

Whether she wanted to be their, or was paraded in front of the audience doesn't matter. Her emotions were still real.

To his kids, MJ was their daddy. Her pain was real. Being a loving father myself, I was able to empathize, and my eyes welled up at that point.

That being said, there were times when my eyes rolled up at some of what was said. Granted, I've only seen clips.

I think it was good that she was able to express her grief, but I hope now the media leave the kids alone, they have enough to cope with and although he did a lot of odd things, he did always keep the media away from them.

Did you see them wearing masks at the funeral??? No. If MJ was alive they'd be wearing masks. But they don't want to wear masks!

Just because they are kids doesn't mean they don't have a mind of their own and can make their own choices.

It's not her fault it was a national funeral. Don't blame the kid for that.

If it was a small, private funeral would it be sick to show her love for her father then? Is it only sick because it was on tv-which wasn't her choice?

If they were being forced to do something against their will, all 3 kids would have spoke but only 1 did. And her emotions were real.

Yeh, I have to agree with that Valerie.

I'm a little concerned though because now the kids have the grandparents involved. It's like two extremes: One extreme is the grandparents who raised Michael and his siblings. They pushed their kids out into the public and, in the case of Grandpa Joe, beat and abused them so they would become better performers. On the other hand there was Michael who seemed to protect and shield them too much perhaps ( except for dangling one over the balcany. )

I hope the right family members come forward and take charge in this. Not Joe or Latoya that's for sure. I'm thinking Jermaine and Janet would be good for the kids.

Whether having Paris make a speech was "sick" or not may depend on what happens from now on. If it was a one time thing, then I see no problem at all. It's normal for some kids to want to say something at their parents funeral. I remember going to a friends funeral about 20 years ago and his 10 year old son got up and made a 5 minute speech about his dad and the bible. I was blown away at how composed and calm he was. Obviously, it was something he wanted to do.

Now, if we have a new singing group in a couple years called the Jackson 3, then we know old Joe Jackson won out and then I may question the memorial speech by Paris. Until that happens it appeared completely real, natural and unforced.
