Though there are ton of changes, the four major improvements of DDR4 SDRAM can be summed up in lower operating voltage, increased power saving enhancements, increased frequency, and improved chip density.

    It's the next generation of computer RAM.

    With this sort of improvement and SSD drives, plus battery evolution, we're going to be looking at much longer per charge usage times in portable devices before long.
