Looks can be a bit deceptive. You wont find communal toilets on this bus, but rather it runs on what we leave in toilets. Flash in the pan maybe?

Interesting. That would be a good way to clean up the piles of waste that are making factory farms such a biohazard, too. We still need to get rid of those farms, though. We just need to save the ecology from them right now while we're fighting to close them down.

Will it run to the restroom?

Has anybody done a serious fecebility study on it?

How much toilet paper is used to clean it?

When it runs, does it get them?

Your yanking my chain. I think the whole ideas potty.

One great reason to NOT do this is that it can stink, is impure, and is HUMAN! If waste is HUMAN, it comes from and contains HUMAN waste and that means it can have diseases humans can catch, so I would say FORGET IT. I think even planes add something to help sanitize it. Of course, if it is created from say the breakdown of waste in compost, and only old sanitized compost is used, then that is another thing.

Is this why they don't have windows? Is everyone supposed to just come in, and do their thing to get the bus to go? So THEY GO for IT to go?

I nearly choked on my coffee laughing. I think you'll find:

      (a) the windows are tinted

      (b) it's a regulation bus, not a mobile latrine

I will ADMIT that I didn't bother to read the article. I DID say it tongue in cheek, which is why I did the word play and put the emoticon. HEY, if it is methane or hydrogen, then (AHEM) why the big stink? I mean methane isn't that unusual, and hydrogen isn't a major gas from such waste.

      1. You do realize they use it in Europe for fertilizer right?
      2. You ever smelled an oil refinery?

        1. YEP! They use it from animals HERE also! And YEAH, I have passed farms using it. It is OBVIOUS even from the STREET! P.U.!

        2. Well, I HAVE passed oil refineries, but don't remember smelling anything. Frankly, the anheiser busch factory stunk MORE! You can smell IT for BLOCKS! I STILL remember the smell from when I got doughnuts from the winchells across the street. But Oil doesn't smell all that great, gas doesn't either, kerosene doesn't, and I HATE tar, so I guess I can imagine.

HEY, why are we arguing smells? Just because one thing smells HORRIBLE doesn't make THIS smell any better.

@ Steve --> The bus runs on biomethane NOT produced on the bus, and the Hyundai runs on hydrogen NOT produced aboard the car.

C'mon, man! The least you could do is read the articles before you post...

Not necessarily. That bus runs from the city I live in, and the council bods that dreamed it up could probably generate enough bullsh*t between them to power the thing into the next millenium. But we can at least say that the authorities around here are leaders rather than followers - it's a safe bet that ours was the first to build a library and then discover on opening day that no-one had thought to order any books to put in it.

Yup. Bristol, known worldwide for it's contributions to transport. The Clifton Suspension Bridge, the S.S. Great Britain, the Great Western Railway... and the Poo Bus. Brunel would be so proud

Edited to add that it's only the rest of the world that calls it the Poo Bus. We call it the Sh*t Shuttle
