We lost the bid on the house we wanted. While the executor of the estate was in the hospital recovering from his heart surgery, another bid came in and apparently he liked it better.

I found out yesterday afternoon and went to the real estate site where it was listed to look at it again and mourn the loss of yet another house, when what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a brand spanking new listing there.

4.11 acres, a large pole barn, additional garage and three large storage sheds in the back. The house doesn't have a walk out basement like I wanted because it's a tri-level so 1/3 of it is a basement sort of.

It's a bit smaller than I would have liked but we already have plans for an addition in the back for a large family room. It's newly remodeled with a brand new kitchen, all new windows, drywall and paint and new flooring; tile and new carpeting. It has a lot of trees and a pond in the front.

Anyway, I contacted our realtor immediately and she told us we needed to act on this one fast if there was any hope of getting it. So this morning we went and looked at it, went back to the office while she drew up the papers, we signed them and put our bid in. Hooray!

But we probably won't hear until after Thanksgiving if we get it. If we do, I've got a lot of landscaping to do in the spring. Gotta have my flower gardens!!

It looks something like this. Ha! Well, exactly like this...

But in the mean time...

More waiting...Sigh...

Actually, we had a warm front move through and it's all gone, already.

        But it starts again tomorrow.

        Michigan winters!

I tell ya, I've lived here for my whole life, well, with the exception of 18 months in Texas, but you'd think I was used to it by now. Not ever gonna happen, lol!

Thanks Joe! It's a bonafide miracle that we both agreed on a house let alone, back to back houses!

The house sits back from the road and the pond is there in the front, just not in the pic.

Thanks! This one is real close to your Dad. It's in Clarkston very close to the Clintonville Rd, Waldon Road intersection. It's about .5 miles from Clintonville Rd. on Waldon.

I do believe that! And to find this one when it was just posted brand new is telltale I think. Also, this one is completely remodeled and all brand spanking new on the inside.

      Move in ready!

There's so much wildlife in the back, it's awesome. I guess I can live with out a little green house.

I'll say it's closer. Any closer and you might as well just move in with him. He has a pond in his back yard for ya, . Nice foresty feel in that area Terra. Is it E or W of Clintonville? Waldon is one of the roads Munch and I took a wander down and ended up on hiking trails with a few very Kewl lakes in our path.

That's one great thing about that area is that, although it's fairly densely populated, it's also forested enough with enough water that you can feel like you're in the middle of nowhere almost anywhere. I used to play over in the Joslyn road area to the East of that castle looking shopping center.

It's towards the East about a half mile down. Sashabaw Creek is just beyond the back acreage.

I'm pretty confidant we'll get this one as we offered them listing price and only asked that they provide a 1 yr. Home Warranty.

Unless you already have one, you may want to reconsider and ask that they also include a riding lawnmower!

      Funny you should mention that!

The house we didn't get had a brand new shiney one in the garage and we asked for it. We do already have one but it's 5 years old. Maybe that's why we lost the bid?

Nah, It's probably because since the pole barn sat untouched for a few years since the elderly lady who had owned its husband passed, some sort of animals had made a home in there. Probably coons and well they pooped all over in the upper level and somebody had swept it all to the sides. We asked for the poo removal. That was probably it, lol!

Best of luck with this new bid, Terra. I know you are excited about this find, but have you had it checked to be sure there isn't anything there to set off your allergies? If you have forced air heat, did the ductwork get cleaned out properly?

Not sure where the creek is. There's a few that Munch and I explored a tad, but don't know which ones - or the names. Don't know the names of the lakes we played at off Joslyn either - although I do know you lived nearby.

Anyhow - I know enough of that area to know you're going to have nice digs. Low crime, highly rustic area, easy access to stores. Pine knob probably still has some good events besides skiing going on during the winter, too. If you have to live in the east, it is not a miserable area to be "stuck" in.

Jody - I'm fairly sure they've got some farmers who have enough entrepreneurial bent to have some goats for hire to clean up lawns.

Gotta ask.... what kind of pies?

My husband and I are alone this year, so I'm not having a traditional dinner. In fact, I'm not even making A pie. I usually make my famous:
Brandied pumpkin pie with gingered whip cream and.....
Harvest pie. It's apples, cranberries and pears, again, with my gingered whip cream.

    Man, no I'm all hungry.

Best wishes for you Terra! Enjoy your day!

Ha! One pink room is sufficient. I have a whole spare bedroom decorated all in Betty Boop stuff with lot's of pink. The bedding and matching curtains are pink! I have lots of collectibles and antique Betty Boop stuff too.

As for the snow plowing, hubby has a snow plow truck. We're covered there.

Yes, there's more counter space and cupboards in there. If you'll look up the stairs from the shot of the family room, you'll see what sort of looks like a stove or dishwasher but its not, it's the edge of the other counter. The cool thing about it is that it is mobile and I could make that an island if I wanted.

Ah - okay. Yeah, that did look like a washer or some such. I thought it an odd place to put it, but couldn't figure out what exactly it might be. I'd be putting that in the kitchen for sure. That's a nice thing to have there. I love Islands.

I tend to be a closet/cupboard freak. It's hard to find a place with enough of them for me. If I could have taken my house in Wallace, ID with me, I'd have done it. That place was a labyrinth. It even had a secret room I didn't even know was there until one day I dropped a shirt beside the dryer and when I leaned on the wall to get it, the wall came open. (It was set up for growing, lol). It had a whole room of cupboards on one side and an open closet with a bar running the length for hanging clothes - and a half door that let to a finished attic room right off the upstairs bedroom, too. The place was bizarre and I have always missed that house.

Less than 3 miles from my Dad. Guess I'll be walking my dog over to see ya one of these summers. In fact - if you already lived there a few years back, you'd have seen Munch and I walking past on a nice warm early autumn day.

I really like it Terra - absolutely beautiful environmentally. Houses I'm not so fussy as property - and the property is awesome! How gorgeous all that woods will be in the fall. (I won't mention about having to rake the yard, though. You're fortunate most of the property is wooded with just small lawn areas, lol. I hope you get this one. That acreage is worth far more than the few perks the other place had. And - you can always build a little greenhouse. Good outbuilding system for Bill, too.

Gee, I am waiting for good news ahead about this one. Fingers crossed.

Haha! I told you it was real close to your dad!

Yeah, it is gorgeous! And once Spring comes around and I put all of my flower beds in, it'll even be so much more so! Another good thing is that the lawn won't ever dry up and turn yellow and crunchy with the pond in front and all.

As far as the leaves, Bill's engineering mind is cranking, LOL! He's already designing some sort of contraption to pull behind the lawn tractor mentioning clean-up, mulch and compost or some such sort. Haha!

He's crazy about the pole barn which he says is the size of an 8 car garage, but the additional garage built on the side is long enough to put his dragster trailer in so it won't be in the yard or taking precious space in his work area in the pole barn.

Yeah, this waiting because of the holiday is killing me! I hope we hear something tomorrow as opposed to Monday. All of this wondering and waiting is driving me bonkers!!

I actually was there last night in my dream and the house was complete with the addition we have planned. I loved it!

But, we got a call from our Realtor this morning...GRRR!

          Deep Breath....

There were multiple bids on the house and the bank that owns the house is giving everyone a chance to change their bid if they want to and have it in by 4 pm today. I also woke up this morning with an ear ache, sneezing and wheezing. Oh, nooo! Here we go again!

Anyway, I told hubby to offer them more than what they were asking just so I can get out of this #@%*@! house. He readjusted our bid to six thousand more than they were asking!

          What a sweetie, hubby is!

It really is worth that, you know, you saw it.

But now, it's back to waiting...It could take another couple of days to hear again. I'm so frustrated but keep telling myself that all good things come to those who wait.
