What do you do when your friend has never heard of these..

The Who
KISS
Bruce Springsteen
Bee Gees (Not that I am a fan)
Garth Brooks
The Dave Matthews Band

... and have the audacity to tell you that you have weird music taste while having previously recommended this...

What do you do?

Sumit.

When you find out, LET ME KNOW! I'm guessing your friend is less than 20 years old and, though "interested in music" maybe, didn't bother to look BACK much. Some songs from even 50 years earlier have been rerecorded almost unchanged and become hits AGAIN, even with the different culture, music genres, etc....

I believe it was #1 on several charts BOTH times, and it isn't the first time even for this song. Both songs here are degraded. I know how records can be, and I heard tiffany enough, including this song, but it helps to give a good comparison.

That type of stuff doesn't have a linear progression. And the words to your friends song are pretty wierd: GYM CLASS HEROES LYRICS - Cookie Jar

HECK, I watched a nice movie one time, that had just came out, in 1978. I thought I was DREAMING when I went to bed late, and heard this movie that sounded like a rather similar story. I found out that movie was the 1941 basis for the later one. So YEAH, if you like some artistic medium, you would think you would look BACK every now and then.

      Hey, Hey, Sumit, my friend!

Long time, no see! It's great to have you back.

Now, about that friend of yours. HeySal 's idea sounds good, but if they object too much, they could get up and walk out on ya.

So, I recommend a nice little road trip down the freeway playing those artists. This way, they have to listen to them whether they want to or not because you're holding them hostage at high speed.

Before you know it, they'll like the music too.

As for what I would do?
Nothing, it's their loss not mine.

And actually I think you've got some weird tastes in music if you don't have Little Feat and The Band on your list. But you're young yet so there's still hope

I would listen to their music, but if it is knock over a drug store genre, then l wouldn't!

The fourth Die Hard movie, with the hacker and Bruce Willis covered this!

Although l wouldn't listen to Credence, because l am more than sick of hearing it, but would listen to some of the hackers music, since it is pretty good!

I suppose time frames are erevalent, it is how much it has been played, and whether it is quality or s***, that dictates whether all age groups will listen to it?

It's not that I am a die-hard fan of these guys, but I do know that these were/are great/good bands, better than the ones she recommends me any day.

Besides, I did not even mention - Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, The Allman Bros in the OP. But, I don't expect anyone I know to listen to Southern Rock.

But, I have never listened to Little Feat and The Band.

Lol.. Did you listen to the song I posted? Does it even qualify as drug store genre?

              -------------------

And for those of you who are wondering where I had been, I was in another city (Chennai) for 3 months for job related training. Got back home a month ago.

Things sure have changed since I was last here.

Hmmm, no not directly, probably more sex discrimination, rape, criminal intend, intend to cause bodily harm, not to mention inferring stealing cookies, LOL!

Ok, song, but the cookies wrecked it!

This is Bruce Whillises song, and the hackers one, which is pretty good!

Couldn't bother with Bruces song, but here is the hackers one!

It does have a slight, Satin on a bad day, vibe at the start, but it gets better!

Well, I WAS approximating, and didn't bother to check timelines. And I forgot to account you are in India. THAT throws such estimates out of whack ANYWAY! That is NOT anything against india, it is simply that the culture IS foreign and such things may take time to get there, if they ever do.

Of course, having said that, I am shocked she has the taste she does. THAT music is just as foreign. HECK, as far as I am concerned, it is foreign to the US, even if it IS an "American" group.

And I know nothing about HER. YOU are obviously reaching out to others on the internet in English, so there is a very good chance you may find out some things before a lot of Indians in India. I say it that way because some, of course, will want to use English just to get used to it, but apparently many others would practically shun it.

Noooooooo, everyone has heard of The Who?!

I hadn't heard of The Dave Matthews Band. I'm not even convinced they exist(ed) at all: could easily be just a figment of your own imagination, from my perspective?
