Yeah, animals are FAR more capable, understand FAR more, and are FAR smarter than many believe.

I once wondered WHAT unique quality did people have! I thought and thought and thought. I THOUGHT I had the answer! WE make tools from tools! Well, alas, THAT is not unique EITHER! Chimps, for example, may use hard rocks to sharpen twigs to get things. You can't even say humans are always smarter, or develop faster. A chimp, and a young child, were both given a similar task. They were about the same age, in fact the chimp may have been younger. Now there might have been a misunderstanding, and humans won't necessarily do it that way all the time, ******BUT****** the CHIMP did it right, and the human DIDN'T!

So HUMANS apparently were the only ones to develop a language that dealt with abstract concepts of non primitive desire. HUMANS apparently were the only ones to have such a large PHYSICAL potential for language. HUMANS apparently were the only ones that wanted to build ever larger groups. HUMANS apparently were the only ones that developed a verbose WRITTEN language. Of course, HUMANS are one of the few creatures that can easily physically do what they may imagine. And I think THAT is why humans are were they are.

So it is basically the ability to easily communicate, record history, and work in LARGE groups that got humans where they are. It is interesting that the Judeo Christian teachings teach AGAINST such things! There is a story of how all of humanity gathered to build a HUGE edifice(Called the Tower of Babel Tower of Babel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) so they may be EQUAL to god and, in disgust, after monologing as to how it was bad, he confused the language, destroyed the temple, and spread them to the farthest regions of the planet.

Don't think emotions, love, imagination, planning, or intelligence are what got humans where they are because they simply didn't. HECK, chimps have been known to get angry, and plot ambushes as well as some of the best writers in the world, and carry them out. Even BIRDS have been known to use tools. And imagine the effort and creativity needed for ants to create a shelter or bridge made of ants, but they DO IT!

Wow Steve, thanks for the lesson, but I really wasn't looking for an answer as to why humans got where they are, lol!

I just think that animals aren't given enough credit for their extreme intelligence and range of emotional intelligence that they should be, is all.

Give me SOME credit! I started out by saying: "Yeah, animals are FAR more capable, understand FAR more, and are FAR smarter than many believe."

Hi Terra. My name is Sal and I'm an animal lover and advocate.

I would like to inform you that your vids here rate an 8 (out of 10) on the cuteness meltdown scale.

Animals are so much more amazing than many realize. I say "many" because from what I've seen, the people in this forum are not at all confused about the depth of mind and empathy animals are capable of showing.

The other week my folks came round. I knew they were near as they'd rung to say they'd be here in half an hour. Anyway one of my dogs began barking at the door which he does whenever anyone or thing enters the front garden. Realising I hadn't brushed my teeth I ran upstairs to do it quickly knowing my folks had a key and could let themselves in.

Anyway I was brushing away and can still hear him barking, afterwards I went downstairs and much to my surprise the dog was still barking but no one was in the driveway. As soon as I realised that they drove in.

My dog regularly barks long before anyone arrives. Not only can I not tell that early on someone is coming but I can't bark as loud as he does either.

My Gracie is LOVING her new home and new family. For almost two years she became caretaker to my older dog, Doodah, as he lost hearing and sight. She guided him around, found him when he'd get lost.

She has blossomed since I moved north. She has new people who love animals (My son, daughter-in-law and grandson) - a lot of teens in and out - a huge yard and people with her almost all the time and two new doggie friends to play with all day. I have one happy, happy dog!

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Yeah, but some don't want to admit it, so we have a false dichotomy.
