OK, I feel like WRINGING the necks of people that do this. I install ONE product, and IT tries to COVERTLY install GARBAGE! I picked custom, so I saw the garbage. MOST, I got rid of, but on my last install, I let it install ONE product.

THIS product constantly redirects you from the page that is loaded, because you asked for it, to one you almost certainly DON'T want, to try to sell you something. Let'screate a list of names of such products! I'll start!

Oh, so it's not a naughty and nice list to check twice, or a grown up Christmas list.

    I'll pass, thank you, haha!

Sorry, Steve. I was Christmas shopping earlier and must have Christmas on the brain.

This shit virus is still on my laptop. I have to delete it from extensions every time I log on . . or it spams me to death with redirects, does underlined text linking, and slows operating speed dramatically. It still comes back though next time I log on. I've tried absolutely everything to get rid of it, but how do you get rid of something when you cant find where it's hiding?

Go to Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Internet Security Software, download it for free as a fully working trial. Let it do it's scans.

IT Will get rid of it.

Already done it, and it didn't get rid of it or even detect it. Ran it several times. Tried loads of other anti-virus as well.

Thanks for the offer of help though, Ian.

In that case, report your problem to their forum. I had a similar issue and they walked me through a multi-step process to get rid of the what I had.

Here's an example of them helping someone with a GoSaave infection:

Yes, had a few of those, go through all your programs, and delete all the dodgy looking ones!

Also get rid of all your restore points, since a trojan can hide there, (especially true with Norton, but obviously risky).

              Yeah, it's not too shabby.

I'd like to say that's my dog in the pic, but it isn't. It would take me hours to get a pic like that and, when I was finished, my house would be in shambles, if not on fire.

But you do have a boxer? They are cool. I did not know until pretty late in life that they are used for police work. I heard from a cop that had one as a K9 partner, that if you go to a good breeder, the puppy picks
its human and it's a lifetime thing.

I'm not usually timid around dogs, but way back when I was a courier, I had a boxer staring at me while I was making a delivery at someone's home. I was in their living room setting the package down and getting a signature. The dog made me kinda nervous the way he was staring at me the whole time.

Walking the long driveway back to my car, he would not leave me alone. He was wanting to play and the owner just let him escort me back to my car. Obviously a memorable experience.

Yep, I have a boxer. Always will have at least one. Boxers can be protective and they usually do so silently. It can be disturbing. Mostly, though, they just want to play and clown around. And talk trash. They love to talk trash.

It IS a naughty and nice list. I may just link it to companies and publish it on a site as one of the things I will record. HOPEFULLY, a number of people there will end up getting a piece of pink paper in their stocking by next christmas!

I think almost everything you download anymore tries to attach yahoo to it.

I got something on my computer awhile back that I'm not sure what I downloaded that had it attached - something pup - and it caused me a headache for months no matter what I used to get rid of it. I removed what I could find on crap cleaner yet there were still extensions of it. Ran a scan with either Avast or Malwarebytes and found where the program was hiding (two different places) and went straight in and deleted it out of docs and settings and out of program files. Took me a long time to figure it out, but it's gone. I still haven't figured out where I got it, though.

If you have malwarebytes and scan - look at the address of the program (most likely docs and settings if you have windows) and then go there to take out the file.

Installed Adobe PDF Reader on my wife's laptop yesterday and it wanted to download and install Chrome and make it the default browser.

And any time I install Java these days it wants to install McAfee.

Even the big guys do it. You have to watch everything these days.

Some people, like Riffle, want to kid around. I think he is implying that I yell ALL the time, and that you have encouraged me to do so.

It isn't even meant to be yelling.

Steve. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. Sometimes one has to REALLY SHOUT from the top of the HILL to get HEARD in this SUB-FORUM.

You don't really mean to yell but somehow it comes across as really LOUD, without the emphasis on DECIBELS OF COURSE.

BIG SHOUT OUT to you mate. Keep it real.
