Will Greece leave the Eurozone?

Will they be allowed to leave without major retaliation - if they want to?

Officials in Brussels, too, emphasized Monday that membership in the euro bloc was "irrevocable,"
What will they do if Greece leaves? Invade?

Well, there should be NO problem, as long as they pay EVERYTHING BACK, AS AGREED, and realize they get NONE of the benefits!

My (perhaps slightly contrarian) guess is not, actually.

(They should never have joined it in the first place, needless to say, but that's a whole "other issue".)

Don't want to get "political" but their forthcoming election will be "interesting" (at least).

That raises an interesting question. What if the Greek people vote overwhelmingly for a party that promises to leave the Eurozone?

Will the election result be overridden by the EU?

Realistically, there's surely very little possibility of this outcome? But granted, an interesting theoretical question.

I don't think they'd even try? In reality, such a party would presumably hold a referendum before leaving the Eurozone, anyway, to "legitimize" such a decision? And would be able to, pretty confidently, if having just been elected on that manifesto? And the EU parliament couldn't conceivably try to overturn a legitimate referendum result of a constituent country? Just as they couldn't, in the case of a country voting at referendum - as indeed the UK may well, in 2017 - to leave the EU itself rather than just the Eurozone?

(The "UK example", admittedly, is not quite directly analogous, since the UK somehow just about managed to scrape together the good sense not join the Eurozone in the first place. )
