        Simple -

        $20 million to each son
$5 million in trust till age 45 for each grandchild
$5 million spread among family members and friends who could use a boost

$30 million for me - invest it and live on the income

$900 million in a trust with the income going to fund animal care and wildlife rescue (my daughter-in-law would administer the trust)

Before I began traveling the world I would try to negotiate a peace between Claude and Riffle over lunch at the fanciest diner in Wooster, Ohio.

        Now THAT is a plan.

This might be fun to play with

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

That's a lie. The fanciest diner in Wooster has a rule, that the patrons have to wear shirts and shoes. I just didn't want to take you there, because I assumed you would embarrass me....and they have a minimum height requirement.

What A Billion Dollars Buys You - Forbes
No need to post my real answer - it's right here, with a few exceptions.

I'd also buy masses of land to be restored to a healthy ecosystem and left that way. There would be no kill animal refuges, and some very solid campaigns for animal rights laws. Of course, some of that money would be invested so that these concerns would continue to pay for themselves.

I don't need much myself -- for me there'd be a good solid 4WD rig, a small house (two bedrooms, den, walk in freezer, self-sustaining energy source bought from Shane, the billionare, and a few buildings for shops) with a few guest houses in rock hunting territory.

    Nothing Jag.

On just 0.5% interest a year I'd be bringing $5,000,000 every year. 5 mil a year for doing nothing.

I could leave 2 mil a year in the bank and this interest would get bigger and bigger as I got older.

I don't think a Limey would go down well in Congress Sal. Nope. I'm far simpler than that.

I don't need or have any desire to be that wealthy but if by miracle one of my Uncles in Nigeria were to perish it's possible I'll receive a letter explaining I'm somewhere near that rich. All I'd need to do is send a few hundred dollars and I could be a billionaire.

Then and only then I'd probably buy some nice pads in my favourite places of the world, I'd probably buy a nice yacht in Monte Carlo and spend my days drinking extremely expensive red wine and eating food that costs more than small houses. I'd probably play golf a lot too.

I'd like a luxury indoor pool, my own cinema and a full size bowling alley and one of those wind tunnels that make you feel as if there's no gravity.

I won't need any material things though. I'm not like that.

Seriously though, if I had a billion in the bank I'd go to my nearest branch and withdraw it all, and specify that it has to be in $1 coins. Then watch the bank staff run around like blue arsed flies fulfilling my request.

After that I'd go to the branch in the next suburb and deposit it back while watching them run around like blue arsed flies.

You guys have no imagination, how about, turning it into 5, 10 and 20 cent coins, (new coins only) so they are clean and shiny, then build a perfect scale replica of Uncle Scrooges Money pit!

Once you realise that swimming around in it, isn't practical, (still cold and smelly) you could contact Disneyland head office and sell it to them?

Other than the fact that a billion will probably not cover all of that, no, you seem to have it all covered.

BTW Freelancer has a market capitalisation of around $300 million, and you'll have to pay a premium to get the owners to part with their shares, you're not going to get much change out of a half a billion. See what I mean about a billion not covering everything you mentioned yet?

So, best to abandon this thread and start a new one:

Wouldn't you feel better as a billionaire helping the homeless for nothing? I mean it's not like you need the money, though of course you might after buying all that stuff.

It's good that you want to help homeless people though. Where about's are you living Jag? Do they have many homeless people there? Just asking as there's plenty people can do now without being rich.

That isn't the funniest part. His "build a vacation house around the world.". That must be one impressive home, for it to reach around the world.

Me? I would buy the property around Riffle's home, an open a slaughterhouse, or sausage factory. Anything to drive his property values through the floor....and make his wife ask "Honey, what is that new terrible smell?"

I would spend millions on a PR campaign, promoting goatees as the new go to symbol for "I am gay".

I would also hire a double for Riffle, and have him rob a bank...just to get a photo of a guy that looks like Riffle, showing up on TV with "Have you seen this man?"

I would spend a fortune promoting the word "Riffle" as the new street name for Chlamydia

And with the $8 left over...I would buy one martini......and toast my victory..

Edited: I would stealthily follow Richard Van on his globe trotting escapades. Every time he was on the cusp of having a good time, I'd zap him with stun gun. The majority of the money would be used to buy my way out of legal and criminal entanglements.

Once the joy of this wore off, if it did, I'd spend the rest of the money bankrupting Claude Whitacre. I'd open up a vacuum store directly next to his and sell the same vacuums for a quarter of the price. On the other side of his store, I'd open a donut shop. Anyone with the last name of Whitacre would get free donuts. I think you can see how this would end.

TL;DR: I'd use the money for evil.

I wear a hearing aid. I'm totally deaf to the frequency of popping bags sadly, especially if I can't see them being popped.

Well, what need do you have for making more money? This kind of hypocrisy makes people smug. Hiding themselves behind charity to appear warm and fuzzy inside. What I'm wondering is, How and Where can or did you get such a large amount of money? That will tell what personality you have and thus I can somehow postulate What you will do with that Billion Dollars.

I would start counting them just to be sure the bank didn't shortchange me.

I would also buy a vacuum from Claude, since mine looks like it got tuberculosis and can barely suck air. I don't know whether he ships internationally, though.

That's another good reason I'm perplexed Jag wants to help the homeless for money when he's got that coming in for the rest of his life.

I'm going to give Jag the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think English is his first language.

You could give a billion dollars to the best help organization in the world
and it would make a temporary dent in the situation.

So, I think he meant he would start some kind of self funding operation or trust fund
type of thing that would help on a longer term basis.

A billion dollars? Holy moly! I would give it all away except for a million - which I would use for my business and my retirement.

Well I want to travel the world and help homeless people on the street, I will do it myself with no organization attach in. Maybe I will put up a Youtube channel that help the homeless people on the street around the world, I'm giving away some material things to them and love and in return I will make money out of it. Because you can't always give and give you also have to receive. Because a Billion dollars will not go along way if you are just spending it and there is no money coming in.

I am talking about continuous helped for homeless people on the street. So don't get me wrong by having a return on the things I give because that will put the money in continuous process of helping people.

But I'm giving money to homeless people when I see one even though I don't have much money on my pocket because I imagine myself being on their shoes and no one wants to help. So I see to it to give something money or food.
