I saw an oddly-titled thread that seemed to be about fish but was about a dating site of all things (!). I thought, how odd that someone would experience discrimination from a fish vendor so I had to read it. Anyway, speaking of fish, is it my imagination or does fish not taste as good as it did decades back?

It could be because of the metaphor there's "plenty of fish" in the sea. Me? I've grown tired of fishing all together, especially if you get catfishes on those kind of dating websites.

Right, of course. When it comes to fishing fishing, I do recall more abundance in lakes and seas in the past. I gather that some weird invasive fish species have done a number in some US waters.

Well the same goes with women. Finding the right one is just bait and switch... catch and release. Plenty of fish in the sea. Some are fugly, and some look scrumptious.

Now I'm starting to see why that site did so well, LOL.

TB, fish doesn't keep that well. You should probably throw those out and buy some fresh ones.

Well, NOW we know WC is either delusional, or here for a laugh!

In all fairness though, I guess I will never get how some women are in that area.

But the normal battle cry for many dating for the heck of it and jilted lowers is: "Well, there are PLENTY OF FISH in the sea!"! The idea being that there are perhaps 1 billion potential people, and so the one you didn't get is likely not THE one.

HEY, it makes more sense than amazon, or ebay!

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it would be about this:

Rare and terrifying frilled shark catch in Victorian waters the first for fishermen in local living memory

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I love fish - especially Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout -
the fish from the Pacific doesn't taste the same - or maybe it's my paranoia about the nuclear waste from Japan that has made me think the fish coming out of the Pacific ocean isn't the same anymore -
I used to eat lots of shrimp - love seafood in general - but I no longer trust most of it.

Even the fresh-water fish from the most pristine lakes in Canada are suspect. Too many people dump stuff - I would love to catch someone dumping garbage in our waterways - I would seriously have something to say to them.

A can of tuna seems to have shrunk and the tuna seems more "mushy" than it used to.

BTW, eat Pollock whenever you can...it's one of the few sustainable fish right now.

I'm pretty sure fish doesn't taste quite the same as it used to. It is more "fishy" if that makes sense. Sustainable economics is the to go, for sure. Either that or humanity will perish.

Here's a couple of possibilities that are actually related. Are the fish you're eating farm raised? It is possible that warming water is changing them?

I know that there's a pretty big difference between farm raised rainbow trout and rainbows caught in nature, and it isn't just the diet they eat. Farm raised rainbow typically live in warmer water than those that live in natural environments. Because of this, the natural rainbows build more fat.

If the temperature of water is rising, this could have an impact on how much fat fish store.
