Well, he did not hit nearly as many homers as Mr. Cub did, but Joe Cronin hit 18, 17, 19, 24, and 16 for Boston in the years '37-'41 while playing in 143-148 games a season. He was one of the power hitters of those squads, and he finished his career with 170 bombs, 118 triples, 515 doubles and 1424 RBI. He had a career batting average of .301, OBP of .390, SLG of .468, and an .857 OPS. His career OPS was higher then Ernie's .830.

Joe was elected to the HOF in 1956 and he was a MLB player, Manager, General Manager, and also the President of the American League.

      Cheers

It makes me feel old when famous people I remember from my youth pass away. Ernie was a great baseball player for sure.
