BBC News - Scientists slow the speed of light

Pretty simple really, Photons are shaped like the Prius. Change their shape to a ford pickup or any other domestic car. They run slower.

Imagine if they could use the same masking technique to speed it up.

Interesting and original thought there professor. Make the photon like a sports racing car shape (in a sense) and would it go faster than light? I'm sure a brief conference will be taking place here.

Now if they could just slow down the speed of smell, Claude could eat chili again without putting his wife in the hospital.

Here's a question, how fast is the speed of thought?

That's nothing, take a look at this...

Turning light into matter, this gives Wizards a little more credibility, well the wand part!

Physicists Pave the Way to Turn Light into Matter

Even Muggles will have to take this one seriously!

Yes, if l remember correctly, we can have 14 billion calculations per second, or our thoughts are breaking light speed.

Which means apart from a warp effect, our thoughts are faster than light, or part of our minds are operating at higher dimensions.

        Slower than you would think.

My first guess, years ago, would be that thought happens at the speed of light. But it actually happens at the speed of the chemical changes in your brain that connect neurons. Maybe 240 or so miles per hour.

And that's the speed of electro-chemical changes along the neural pathway. Some chemical changes are much slower.

The difference in time between when our brain starts to form a thought, and we are aware of it? Maybe a tenth of a second-half a second. There have been brain scans to study the changes in a brain when a choice was made (between images), and when the observer was aware that they made the choice. It was about half a second delay.

Brain scientists have made a real, and in depth study of how we form thoughts, where they occur, and how fast it happens.

Our reflexes are different. They only incorporate the brain stem, and the reactions are faster than our thinking. And it's why some reactions are not under our conscious control....

Like pulling your hand away, when a snake tries to bite your hand. Your memory tricks you into thinking you wanted to move your hand, but it happened automatically.

Oh, I forgot where I was. According to the laws of Quantum Mechanics, everything in our body is made of energy, and energy travels at the speed of light. So, everything that happens in our body, happens at the speed of light. It's why we travel forward in time, and vibrate at the same frequency as cheddar cheese. And if you eat enough cheese, you travel in time faster. It was all in a crop circle I read.

            That's very kind of you.

I don't pretend. But your observation that I'm knowledgeable about "so many things", is an illusion. I have the irritating habit of explaining things (as Ian has pointed out), that I'm knowledgeable about. So I post a lot, on very few threads. This looks like I'm talking about many subjects, but I'm not. I'm not well rounded at all.

You knew perfectly well that along with Lord Tagiscom, I was going to try to steer this towards thoughts emanating outwards into the multi-dimensional universe. And then you bought cheese into it so I'm going to have to have some cheese and crackers to test out your theory.

I noticed you did not comment on the main topic, re-shaping photons slows them, and the professors comment on streamlining them.

This is not the least bit surprising to me. You probably need to be from OHIO and a sports fan, I guess. Or, at least, have watched an Ohio State game in public.
