Please solve this problem

I can't open my website on my laptop. However, I can open the same site on another laptop at my home. Please help....

  • Have you tried another web browser such as explorer, google chrome, Firefox. Do other websites open

  • I have tried chrome, firefox, explorer and opera. It's not opening on any of them on my laptop a. But it's opening on another laptop at my home.

    • Provide more details about your issue. "It's not opening" is not enough.

      Are you getting a blank screen, an error, the website is loading continuously, etc.

      Also, if you could provide the URL of your website it would be great.
  • When I try to open in chrome, it says: "This webpage is not available"

    In Firefax, it says : "Server not found"

    In Opera, it says: "This webpage is not available"

    • The site could even be cached on the other lap. Is your site a Wordpress site, html? You must first provide relevant information and the url to your site to be able to check wether it opens or not.
  • might be a "childblock" on your site, maybe your IP was blacklisted on that site, maybe the site is actually down but the other PC is cahcing it.. try clearing your cookies, try on a different browser, try with a proxy.. If none of that works than I have no idea
  • This is my own site on wordpress platform. I have checked on another laptop at my home. It's opening and it's not cache.

    • 1) Delete all the caches and cookies from your web browsers.

      2) Go to your website URL. Type it manually and check if it's the correct URL after the page is accessed (it doesn't matter if you receive the same error, but make sure you are not redirected to a mistyped URL. Do not use a bookmark or a version saved in browser history).

      3) If you are using a cache plugin for WordPress, go to dashboard and deactivate that plugin.

      4) Repeat step 1.

      5) Repeat step 2.

      Tell us the result.

  • ANY of the above COULD be correct! It could ALSO be:

    1. A virus on the laptop that fails. This is often because of a virus called something like the antivirus trojan. They do this INTENTIONALLY to force you to go to the one site they want you to go to, THEIRS, so you buy their software in hopes of fixing the problem!
    2. A bad direction in the laptop that fails in %BASE%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. It could ALSO be that the site has no domain name, but IS in the laptops that succeed, in hosts. You can test this on the laptop that fails by pinging amazon.com and your site. Both should succeed or fail. If amazon works, and your site doesn't, it says it MIGHT be a hosts(file) problem.
    3. The one that fails could be off the internet, or on a different name server that is failing. It could be simply on a different subnet, etc.... If my main router goes down, for example, my backup router comes into play, which puts me on a different subnet and disables local access.
    4. Your website could have an instruction to INTENTIONALLY fail, or go to bad code, if the client(your failing computer) returns an incorrect ID. That is getting to be more and more popular today! This is because people break standards and often have multiple pages or routines to handle special cases.
    5. Your website could require client code that can't be run for whatever reason, usually a DLL or JVM failure.
    6. Your failing laptop could simply be running too slowly, and encountering a timeout, sometimes a reboot, or removing browser plugins can fix it.
    7. You COULD be hooked to a different nameserver that simply hasn't been updated yet.

    As unlikely as all of the above seem, I have run into ALL of the above! I think that covers about everything that hasn't been covered above.

  • It seems to me your website is blocking your ip.

    Here's what to try.

    Disconnect your laptop and one other from the network. connect your laptop first, this will give you a different ip address that is associated with the other laptop
    the other laptop will then assume your other ip of the original laptop

    See if you can connect.
    If it connects your ip has been blocked. You will need to go into your cpanel and allow it. If you were unable to connect than it is very strange. if only your site is being blocked...
