Horrendous Godaddy Superbowl ad pulled

It is sort of funny. Like Godaddy asking every dog owner in the world to choose between their love for Fido and their affection for Godaddy could possibly turn out well for Godaddy.

What is not funny is how they attempt to draw sick humor from the appearance of mistreating puppies.

Again, what the hell were they thinking?

My panties aren't in a wad and what is ridiculous is that a company would think that was smart advertising. It's clearly obvious that no puppy was harmed in making that ad, but it's also clearly obvious that if it were a real situation that it would be animal abuse. So I find the fake depiction of animal abuse offensive.

It was stupid for them to think that people would react favorably to that ad. So I really don't need to take a deep breath and there's nothing wrong with my senses, thank you. I voted against Godaddy long ago by removing all of my domains from them.

Perhaps you like the commercial. Maybe you think it's brilliant marketing. Go buy some Godaddy domains to support their stupidity.

Yeah, Mark there is no direct Animal Cruelty going on here.

But now that I have taken a look at video again it is a little deviant in a way. The owners aren't glad to see him. Only glad to see him so they can 'ship him out.' And after he has been through so much.

And he gives a last second little whine when he is being shipped out.

I think PETA goes a little extreme no question, but I just think a little bit of bad taste here.

Plus, my Mom raised 'light' golden retriever litters when I was growing up.

And they are the most adorable puppies ever created

That's the impression that the ad gives. That they raise dogs just to sell them. Otherwise, why would they need to build a Godaddy website for selling puppies.

Puppy Mills and back yard breeders are the scourge of the pet industry. Puppy mills are large scale dog breeding commercial operations that put profits far above the health and the welfare of the animals that they breed. Backyard breeders are a bunch of dumb asses who buy some dogs and breed them with no thought to the health, welfare and betterment of the breed they are breeding.

This ad smacked of "puppy mill" humor. I hadn't seen it, but after seeing it, I had a very negative response to it, with the most negative response being to the puppy going through all manner of trials and tribulations to get back home and this woman saying gleefully, it's back ... ship it out.

Like I said, Godaddy is a huge corporation. A lot of money goes into a Super Bowl ad. You would think that at least some research and thought would also go into them. How could they possibly not be aware that the ad had issues?

But Super Bowl ads aren't why I removed 300 domains from Godaddy. It was their support for SOPA and PIPA that was the straw that broke the camels back.

I had long heard of them holding people's domains hostage for a large ransom and people losing domains. The complaints of that happening with Godaddy were plentiful, while other registrars, not so much. I never had it happen to me, but I was always afraid that it might.

Their interface always annoyed me with all the upsells and slowness of the site for people like me with challenged bandwidth. The biggest benefit of moving my domains to Namecheap was that the interface was wonderful in comparison.

But I thought when I saw the title of this Thread and all the Hate words thrown around there were going to be puppies put in a garbage bag with bricks and thrown in a lake or something.

Well, can't argue with you on those points, and by the way the link had an attached popup ad. Well a dodgy Telstra, survey which claims l could get $75 if l answered 8 questions.

After l realised it wasn't Telstra, but some dodgy US one, or something else, l didn't bother!
