Here's A Delightful Creature That You're Probably Unaware Of

And it's almost extinct.

We found restaurants selling pangolins to eat for $250 (£160) a kilo. One restaurant owner explained that a live animal could be brought to our table, where its throat would be slit, and the blood served as an aphrodisiac.

He recommended we had the meat steamed, and the tongue chopped up for soup. He then produced a large jar of rice wine with a small, dead pangolin pickling inside it. He offered us that for an extra $200 (£130). It was a repulsive sight.

Well, I hope they can do something about it before they are extinct. Would be a shame.

Would be a shame indeed to have it go extinct before tasting it.

    It looks delightfully delicious.

The only problem is that they tend to die in captivity. So unfortunately, techniques of mass breeding of tigers probably won't work and probably their meat won't be as delicious.

They should make it more illegal to be caught eating one, or serving one than poaching it. If you can't stop poachers - stop their meal tickets. If someone knew they were risking several years in jail and huge fines for serving or eating the animal, poachers wouldn't have the funding to finish killing them off.

It alarms me that humans are actually stupid and short sighted enough to drive anything to extinction. Once the web of life is understood - messing with any part of it that hard can have bad consequences for us as well. Humans have got to be the least intelligent species ever.

Yeah, it IS oddly cute, and the story makes it sound somewhat harmless. Why not just let them live in peace?

"That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example:
maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like,
which is why chicken tastes like everything.[B][SIZE=5]"
