You know guys,... for a forum with so many people online, and so many members there is actually not enough action going on. Top threads in subforums dont get any responses even though there are like 200 people on them. What is going on? I have been a member in forums which had 100 times less members and you couldnt refresh without having an answer on top threads.

This is the new, improved Warrior Forum. All new membership and nothing much going on. Lots of reasons but I'm sick of talking about it.

I just reported a spam thread in the main forum advertising for True Religion jeans, so even spam quality has taken a hit, lol! What's next? Spam threads promoting Justin Bieber albums?

Anyway, that's what happens when you put in charge a bunch of people who have no idea what they're doing. Come to think of it, I'm a bit surprised it has not yet flopped. What's even funnier is that they keep doing WAMA's and Alaister tries to act cool and everything, but has no idea of what he's talking about.

warriorforum is a brand, and brands flopp hard, but when they do its for good. The big problem with the quality on the forum is that people who came here for networking, valuable info, or just to talk the same language with people living similar life to theirs - the ones who will write quality content on the forum, those are driven away due to the stupidity of some of the "hot" posts

Yeah I can understand, its just a different vibe tbh then im used too. Usually when I post something on a forum with a bunch of members, which should spike some interrest, there is an response in an hour latest. Currently there are 200+ members in the freemarket section, but since this morning there was no response, which doesnt feel right

You can find various threads talking about problems with WF.

They became more significant after WF was sold to Freelancer and actions were not taken swiftly enough.

There were technical problems with the interface change that were not fixed until very recently. The moderating deteriorated quickly in the transition from existing mods to new mods.

A lot of spam and threads that normally would not be allowed were not removed fast enough, or not removed at all.

This led to a large exodus of long time members which just caused things to further deteriorate.

If you look through the main marketing forum for useful threads you will find few compared the the amount of chaff.

Most threads are either misguided "how to" threads intended to expose a signature, "how long is a piece of string" kind of threads (like "how much traffic to I need to make $100/day"), rants, or ads for Viagra sites in Russia.

Too many helpful members have responded to honest sounding questions only to realize (after the OP never returns but starts other threads) that it wasn't a question at all, just rhetorical signature exposure.

After a while people just stop responding to the same questions that come up day after day.

Once the experienced members left or disengaged the quality of content and information sharing dropped dramatically.

Go in the main forum and it is literally the blind leading the blind out there.

There are still good threads and discussions but they are few and far between. The only threads with any traction are rants with lots of replies on either side of the argument, stupid posts that get trolled (guilty) or any other random post where a fight breaks out.

Those last can be fun but they seem to happen more here in Off-Topic these days.

Things have been changing but too slowly to stop people from leaving or complaining.

A lot of the WF discussions are about whether the WF can salvage its reputation and lure people back. Even if they get everything fixed, so many have already left.

There are other problems but I'll let Alexa tell you about them...

    Massive thanks!!!

I am by no means an IM pro, I am experienced, jack of all trades, but some BS Ive came across in the SEO & WSO section gave me the chills. And you are right, in most cases people ask "stupid" questions (even though I stick to it, there are no stupid questions, if I know something you need to know, why not share) and dont even bother to comment / thank for a usefull answer.

Good questions that are about a specific problem do get answered and often start a good discussion.

But too many questions are so general or vague they cannot be reasonably answered. In the past some helpful prompting would elicit more info from the OP and then lead to something.

But these are the kind of posts that get zero response now because there are too many of them and a reasonable answer cannot be given.

These are actual questions (possibly paraphrased) from people seeking help:

I have been doing this for two years without any success. Can someone help me or tell me where I'm going wrong?

How much traffic do I need to make $100/day?

I am new here and need some help. Anyone?

What is the best way to make $5,000 by Christmas?

How do i start making good money online? I don't want a website or do facebook or use an autoresponder because they are too complicated.

In the past a few may have tried to answer those or at least see if they could help but those are the kinds of posts that get ignored or trolled these days.

Mostly because they come up so often you don't even need to search, just scroll down.

seems like the shift of normal and fruitful conversation moved to the off-topic.
" Twilight Zone theme in the background "

I had a great day today (found some untapped PR8, PR9 link sources which I can monetize) and was looking for a chit-chat to round it up. Thanks OS, gives a good feeling to know that there are not only people who try to "work you into a funnel" around here, but people who want to talk aswell.

The Freemarket section is never very active. Some spammers post there to try to shill their domains and websites, but Freemarket is pretty new. I used it once. Went back to Flippa to sell my domains. Didn't have any luck with Freemarket. Has a way to go, if ever, before there are real buyers and quality offerings.

The long term members that are still around are mostly hiding in the Off Topic forum cracking stupid jokes.

Here's just a few of the threads discussing what's been happening with WF

    http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topi...rs-new-wf.html

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-payments.html

    http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topi...um-coming.html

    http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topi...ior-forum.html

There's a lot more, but like I said, most of the older members are just tired of talking about it.

Just be careful down there. I've see you've already hit a "hot" thread. Politics and religion aren't allowed, so be careful about making partisan comments or religious or anti-religious comments.

      Wecome to the forum, Insano.

You may find like-minded individuals here in OT, but just remember the Off Topic forum isn't the place for marketing related discussions - those belong either in the Main Discussion forum or one of the other designated subforums.

I believe FL is trying to do the right thing. They recently revamped the WSO forum trying to clean it and its reputation up. That was a positive step.

The next step needs to be the discussion areas. I think that's even more important than the banner ad rules or anything else. They need to figure out how to get the discussion going in a way that people want to take part. The WAMA isn't it, though, because Perry Marshall, for example, isn't going to be posting here everyday.

If the discussion piece doesn't turn around and fast, then it is of no hope/use.

What you have got, for the most part, is idiots leading idiots into the ditch. You've got people that know the answers but they only put them on their blog. You've got people with all the answers but you get it only through their sig.

And note I'm not talking about rules only. I'm talking about a whole new approach is needed to enhance and build conversation. The discussion forums need resurrecting and it should be clear several months after the acquisition and the continuing declining traffic that the same old same old approach isn't working.

If seen merging similar threads on different forums as an effective way to clean the forum. Since the top area of the forum is mostly read (first fold) I would put up the most valuable forums like SEO, PPC, Offline Marketing, on top after that the money maker (WSO, Warrior room, WAMA, etc.) and pull the low value (as for user experience value) subforums closer to the bottom.

hire a coupple freelance mods on odesk, just to merge existing questions, close duplicate posts, etc etc...

I guess after 1-2 months of such practice, this place would be a pleasure to track

One of the first thing Freelancer did was install a big banner for the WSO Forum that dropped all the other forums below the fold.

Next they added a bunch of new forums and re-ordered the existing forum list order with no apparent reason.

That was the fist thing anyone noticed after the update - "Where did all the forums go? Oh, I can still find them if I scroll down. WTF is Growth Hacking?"

Your describing a moderator, you're also dreaming because the only moderation that happens in those sub-forums is reported comment/threads by other forum members. They're hanging out in the Mod forum refreshing their browser waiting for reported post to pop up.

There's no active mods consistently browsing those sub-forums cleaning up trash.

Before freelancer bought this forum we had mods dedicated to sub-forums, those same mods were active on their assigned sub-forums. We knew the subjects (ex: SEO). We could spot self promoters & spammers. We were proactive, we didn't sit around waiting for other members to complain about threads.

It has to be more than merging duplicate posts and appearance/organizational things only, in my opinion. They have to figure out how to stimulate positive, helpful, business/marketing discussion.

Step 1) stop chasing the people willing to start / have / engage in those
      conversations away.

Step 2) if you say your going to do something - do it and if doing it
becomes an issue don't just ignore it, say this is why this is an issue

Step 3) at least act like you $%^&* care

And discussions between members focus on this a lot. Will fixing the superficial problems be enough? Will people come back?

What you describe happens as a new forum grows. Members gain experience, make friendships, build relationships and learn the community.

WF had that and it is why it was successful. But that happened over a long period of time.

FL saw that and must have realized its value because they bought WF for a lot of money.

The actions that drove away many of the core members also drove away all the organic work that can only be regained by time. You can't clearcut a forest and then ask, "So, how long until all the trees grow back?"

Everything FL is trying right now feels very "inorganic". Slapping up WAMA to try and spur discussion or lure "experts" is an example.

In addition to that, WF has lost its appeal as a market. The reputation now is an influx of members from countries unable or unwilling to buy digital products online.

A lot of signatures touting "$10,000 a month for newbies" in signatures from people asking, "How do I start with no money?"

Not really a target for many people who used to participate.

Do not kid yourself. A huge percentage of people were here because they could engage their market. If this is no longer a market they can engage with (and sell to) it is not practical to spend time here.

Another thing I think is very underrated is having someone like Paul Meyers around.

Someone who is a contributing member and not an owner but on the "inside" with the forum owners.

Paul contributed less in the past few years but he was always much more than someone who "knew" popping in to explain rules. And (almost) always welcome in a thread.
