So I was given a week long course of heavy antibitoics for a gum infection and now I have a stomach problem with gas and loose motions

Think me gut bacteria has all been decimated. What should I do?

Besides call your doctor for advice? I've heard of eating yogurt with active cultures that can help return your gut bacteria back to normal.

HOWEVER, I am no doctor, not a nurse nor a nutritionist, so you should consult someone much more in the know than me.

Your doctor likely has another doctor who can take emergency calls and can give you advice. If you don't have that available to you where you live, call a pharmacist (probably where you got your meds,) name the medication and dosage and explain your reaction to get advice on what you can take to get some help.

P.S. Get a battery powered toothbrush for your dental hygiene routine. Those work a lot better to clean your teeth and gums. Oh, and use dental floss, too.

I'll let Claude and the others do the jokes about staying away from other guys with lighters every time you go to the gym and bend down to pick up weights.

Try probiotics; you're probably right about the gut bacteria.

I miss all the food, trying to lay low for a while and eat only yogurt.

Have you considered alternative holistic medicine

    e.g. voodoo or naturopathy.

as well as a staple of natural vegetarian diet like a combination of moss and grass.

I think that was an insult of some sort.

Not, really. Suggesting that you ingest shredded glass and Drano - now that would be a insult of sorts.

The only shortcoming of that post was leaving out tree bark and toad stools, the addition of which would most certainly 'cure whatever ails you.'

It's more then possible that you also have left over antibiotic in your body resulting in the side effects which are on the pack. Obviously talk to your GP about it and I'm sure they will be able to sort it.

      Start this!

Graw, Damnit, I Have a Headache and Bad Hair Day, What Should l Do?

WC try this...(this isn't affiliated mods, just for laughs).

      Soylent - Free Your Body

Although l would double check the ingredients, they say it is from the worlds Kelp forests, but the added protein extracts has me worried!

And the warning that this product may contain traces of human bone!

Tasteless, oderless crud if you ask me!

WC, you need to be eating a bland diet along with that yogurt. Thicker bland foods such as oatmeal, bananas, plain rice, and applesauce.

Some other foods your tummy may to be able to tolerate are boiled potatoes, toast, pretzels, plain crackers such as saltines, and baked chicken without any skin or fat.

You have to avoid foods that are fatty. Avoid dairy products including milk, ice cream, and cheese. Live cultured yogurt is the exception.

Stay away from alcohol! Lay off the red wine! And no caffeine. Caffeine and alcohol act as a diuretics and are dehydrating.

Avoid artificial sweetners as they do have a laxative effect on some people.

It is important to eat fruits and vegetables but not those that cause gas like cabbage, broccoli and beans.

Also, avoid foods that have been out of the refrigerator too long, or in the refrigerator too long. When in doubt, throw it out!

And most importantly, call you doc or pharmacist as April said.

Boiled chicken and oatmeal. It works for my dog when he has the squirts. It should work for you, too.

Organic yogurt - organic sour kraut, pickles, or any other naturally fermented food you have where you are. That will normalize the gut flora. Quickest way to get rid of the runs if they aren't caused by bacteria is soda crackers - eat with cheese and pickles.
