What is the LD50 of water?

LD50 is the Lethal Dose required to kill 50% of a test population.

Over the last few weeks, I have upped my water intake to 3.0+ Litres per day. So, this topic ran through my mind.

As a final note, the graphic provides the LD50 values for water, caffeine and alcohol (ethanol). It's worth noting that, in the case of caffeine, drinking 118 cups of coffee would almost certainly see you dying of water poisoning before caffeine poisoning!

      It's worth noting that, in the case of caffeine, drinking 118 cups of coffee would almost certainly see you dying of water poisoning before caffeine poisoning!
      So coffee is less dangerous than water - that's a marketing angle Starbucks has yet to exploit.

    The fine print says, "when the amount specified is taken all at once."

    I would think your stomach would burst like a balloon if you forced 6L of water down your gullet all at once. Even if you could get it down, you would die from the dilution of essential body chemicals, like sodium.

      Meanwhile the LD50 of Cannabis is around 45 pounds
      Of course that's if someone drops it out of a plane or off a tall building and it lands on your head.
