Your computer world will continue to change.

Here is a quick, down-and-dirty primer of what makes USB Type-C so great:
  • ...
  • It can transfer data at up to 10 Gbps--i.e. 10 times your crazy Google Fiber connection per second. (If you have Google Fiber, I hate you forever.)
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • It's tiny. Small enough to make laptops thinner and work its way into phones and tablets.

The bit about making laptops thinner is BULL! Suppose they somehow made it 1/3 the size. That is impossible with the kind of connector they showed, but doable with one like lightning, which DOES do it. WHOOPIE, one side is now approximately a bit less than 1mm thinner. You wouldn't notice for one, and you WILL have to add size or something to make it more sturdy. There are already products trying to be super thin, and large, and they are too flimsy.
And 100watts is likely TOO MUCH! I believe they are 5v, so 100watts is 20 amps, or ten to 20 times the power. You would likely have to make so much LARGER! Just laws of physics! Use a conductor like gold, and/or bigger traces. They SERIOUSLY want to increase the power THAT much? BTW the standard, from what I understand is currently 1 amp, but they can sometimes go up to 2 amps.

Still, 10Gbps I think is pushing the current maximum limit of the faster connections and processors.

What happens if the port fails? I've had ports logically fail before. Being able to use another saved me from a reboot!

BTW USB has been about the LEAST universal serial port ever created! He speaks of USB-C being EVERYWHERE in the future. They said that about A, B, Mini, and Micro ALSO! My FIRST serial connector lasted ME about 20 years! I emphasize ME, because it probably lasted my father a couple decades more! My SECOND serial connector lasted me about 10 years or so. AGAIN, some people had them decades before that! My THIRD lasted a few years. Some people ON THIS BOARD had them a decade or so before that! THEN, we talk about USB! USB has been around, AS AN IDEA, for ONLY 19 years!!!!!!!, and it is in like its 4th fully incompatible connector, and at least 2nd electrically incompatible. WHEN can I stop buying new cables and chargers?
