Explian why my cat who kills everything is friends with a wild possum

Seriously - a wild possum and my cat were eating out of the same
bowl in the house just a few minutes ago.

My cat kills everything and there they were, nonchalantly eating together.

I assume the possum is wild because it stank, looked ratty and freaked
when it saw me.

Prolly coz killer instinct brought them together.

I picture them talking to each other while eating:

Cat: I've killed three canaries, 12 mice and a fat ass hamster named Marvelous.. bet you can't top that.
Possum: Never killed nobody in my life. I worked as a Jackal in some highway, led several woodland critters to their deaths. Roadkill is my streetname. That's where the art of playing dead became my calling.
Cat: Whoa, you're awesome dude... here have some more tuna.
Possum: So, that's your master huh? Can we try to off him too?
Cat: Let's wait til he gets to the other side.

How about you, Ken? What do you think?

Maybe if it's a badger then you should prolly get angry with your cat because they are bad influences.

Maybe the cat and possum just don't see each other as a threat. And maybe their relative size is a factor. No real idea.

But I've had cats as friends, and to a cat...we're all just other animals.

Maybe your cat just thinks the opossum is a really ugly cat and feels sorry for him?

Cats do not go after possums. They are too big and vicious when attacked. Cat's quickly get the measure of that.

I went out on to the porch a few years ago to find a possum curled up asleep on a patio chair with our 2 cats asleep on two others.

It's the same reason that the waitress takes my order, and then says "....and, for your possum?"

Hey! I take offense to that. I'm American. It's Opossum, dammit.

In Mississippi I had possums (and racoons) on the front porch most nights - they came to see if there was any cat food available. My cats seem to co-exist with the possums just fine and stayed out of the way of the racoons.

I use to have raccoons sneak into my garage for cat food, the cats just backed away from them though. One day one of them came home with a big cut down his face, Im thinking it was from a fight with a raccoon. On another note, down south some people fancy thinking possums are really just some kinda strain of "wild hillbilly monkeys!"

Ps. Ken. Yeah, Im thinkin your possum was probably wild... lol Maybe you can clean him up and domesticate him!

Possums are ugly? I think they're adorable. And they're nice people if you aren't scaring them witless. I've never heard of possums and cats being enemies.

I can just hear that cat telling the possum about how weird his dad's friends are.

I saw this a while back and it left an impression on me. I find it oddly disturbing. She has a number of videos featuring her doing odd things to her very malleable possum.

My God! I just watched about 5 videos on this woman's Youtube channel. This is my favorite. I can't decide if she's just incredibly funny...or a good marketer...or both.

I find her funny and entertaining myself. She's well-spoken and clever. On top of that, she's got great facial bone structure. She must have been stunning when she was a young woman. I guess the test of how good a marketer she is would be if she's making sales. She's made a lot of videos and offers different products which kind of suggests that she is for her to feel justified at the effort involved in doing so.

Probably for the same reasons my kitten Maggie decided to jump a barrier and introduce herself to my dog Hansel, and they became instant friends.

This happened within hours bringing the kitten home from a Petsmart adoption fair.
