It this day, when there have been NO standards in the US, and now they want to create loads of worthless ones, they are changing things even MORE! ONE little girl, in florida, is upset, and brings down the house! HERE SHE IS:

Bet she got an A, that being said, once you hit a certain level (not her age), im thinking university level, it is a good way to asses a persons ability. Tests are normally combined with course work giving two scenarios in which they can be assessed.

I think what upset her was that it assumed something that may not be true, and was done with NO hope of recovering. The problem with "educators" is they just don't know what they are doing. Tests should *****NOT***** be used to determine competency, but to determine DEFICIENCY! I run tests in my job ALL THE TIME! If I did them like florida does with grades, wouldn't that be nice? I write an accounting system, put it into production in a bank, and a YEAR later TEST it and tell them OOPS! I misplaced the decimal, and you gave everyone 110% interest this year. You're bankrupt, SORRY!!!!!!!!!!

OH, THAT would go great! Let me tell you how it is SUPPOSED to work!

      1. You change the code.
      2. You test the code.
      3. If it fails, you go back to #1.
      4. You broaden the test.
      5. If it fails, you go back to #1.
      6. You move it to QA.
      7. THEY do MORE tests.
      8. If they fail, you go back to #1.
      9. If it succeeds, it is migrated to production.

So she is NOT saying get rid of the test! She is saying do it TWICE, so if you find her deficient, she can improve before the next test!

BTW the course work is done by and according to the teacher! The test she is taking about is done by another testing body. In some cases now, it is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! Schools in the US have NO standards! I have been to a lot in California, NO standards! If you go to the state "standard" sites, they are different and VAGUE! And *****NOW*****, they are trying to change them to something TOTALLY different! QUESTION! HOW do you create a TOTALLY different test for 12 grades that doesn't disadvantage students for as much as 11 years work? THAT is what they are planning!
