It's not that "Rare Earth" materials we use in our tech are not commonplace (Well for the most part) and evenly distributed throughout our Earths Crust, it's that China is the only place that is prepared to take on and store the toxic waste that is the byproduct of their extraction. A messy process. Makes them a lot of money!

In my opinion, that makes re-cycling it as much as possible, important.

    Don't worry, they often turn around, dump it in stuff to feed americans, and send it to the US! THAT is why we have toys/paint with lead, and concentrated whey with nickel, cadmium, arsnic, and who knows what!
