Hhahahaha - you're not going to believe this. It's really summer here now - 106 in the shade, etc.

I'm having a yard sale right now and have had a lot of rockhounds looking through some of my specimens. One offered me a beer. I drank that one then a full 2nd one. The whole things. And they even tasted okay. Got me giddy.

I still have 2 in the fridge that just don't seem tempting even in the heat, but those two yesterday sure went down easy.

If you aren't Thom and are reading this - I haven't drank a full beer in decades - don't like it. I lived in Germany over a year and probably had only a half beer worth of "tastes" the over whole time I lived there. I'll drink Mike's hard lemonade or something like that - but not beer.

Heat sure can do some strange things. LOL.

I'm thinking if you put the NY humidity on top of this heat we'd have people dropping dead out here.

    Hey Sal,

I can't imagine what would happen if I even had 1/2 of a beer. I'm it would throw me for a loop. I guess it could have that effect after almost 19 years.

    Stay cool,
    Michael

Sometimes on a really hot day, you just can't beat an ice cold beer. I'm not even a beer fan but thats pretty good at the right time.

        I got ya beat Sal.
On the way home from Americade a few weeks ago we stopped at a bar and I had 3 beers.
Well I drank 2 and "accidentally" knocked over the third one.
So between the 2 of us we're looking at about 15 years to finish off a 6 pack:rolleyes:

Ken - you are in a whole different ecosystem over there than just 125 miles east. This E. edge of the Mt's is desert. I'm surprised you've never been here.
It's been over 100 the last 4 days - today it's only around 95. Supposed to be in the triple digits this weekend, too. When it's raining where you are, it's also sunny here. The cascades completely divides the environment.

Well, Pat - that's an answer to your question, too. East Washington, East Oregon, SouthWest Idaho are HOT. They are desert and that sand reflects like madness. It's all sage and rock.

Gee, Thom - I guess I can forget sending you the extra two beers, then. Guess I'll wash my hair with em.

        .
Yech. I am sorry to hear that (and am surprised). My son just moved to Oregon near the Caifornia 'border' - Always been my dream to move to Puget Sound - I will be sure to stay away from the East end if I ever get out of here...

Stay cool! (poor Munchie)* (you know when the wind fails me (seldom) and my 3 fans don't do it, I pull one of my 'blue gel' ice packs out of the freezer - it really cools ya down fast) might be a good investment of under $5...)

*when I had my bunny the vet told me bunnies die all over the place at 100 degrees F, so she advised me to fill some plastic 1/2 gallon water bottles, freeze them and then put one in his cage on super hot daze. Blessing (the bunny) wouldn't have anything to do with them, but Munchie might appreciate it.

I haven't had a beer in so long I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it anymore.

Especially here in phoenix during the day. Our nights are hotter than most other cities days.

I'm surprised you didn't pass out

It was 118+ (in the shade) a few days ago here in parts of Las Vegas. The next day, it "cooled" down to about 107 and rained at night. It was literally like a suana, just about impossible to breath.

Right now, it's about 100F, and looks like it's getting ready to rain again. We definetly need the rain here, but it can really make it miserable.

I just need to figure out why I always come back to LV in the summer??? Worse, my PU truck doesn't have AC. I think I'll just stay inside for the next two months and crank the AC. Thank God for ice cubes and air conditioners.

      Oh hell ya.
It's starting to look worse then last summer.
Only real difference is we can't get out of the 70's.
I think we have had only two days above 80 so far and one of those was in April.

Sound...and feels like Tucson. Middle of monsoon season here...like you said, we need the rain but the heat mixed with the humidity make it mighty uncomfortable.
And we don't have A/C....we have a swamp cooler

June / July / August are brutal....but the rest of the year is truly beautiful. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I almost never drink beer, but I am dying to try - it is either Miller or Coors that has 100 calorie lime flavored beer called "Chill".

Once in a while a beer is good.

Sal, Where are you that it is so hot, surely not Washington?

It's cold here on the water - even when 97 in town, I am enjoying nice, windy, cool and sometimes overcast daze. The news is threatening it will warm up again soon.

Summer is not until September, don't tell me (news) that it is going to heat back up to normal July temps this week. I don't want to hear it.

Give me rain everyday and I will be a happy camper (as long as I am camping inside my apartment)...

    Cheers!

LOL Pat - POOR MUNCHIE, my sweet a**.

Right now he's snoozing in the AC. On days I can get out of town he is taken to lakes in the altitudes, when I can't get away it's walks along the river -- he can swim and drink at his leisure whenever he gets hot and has plenty of walking and exploring to do in the surrounding woods. At the park there are usually nice little bitches that he can have fun swimming after sticks with. Sometimes we just take midnight strolls after the heat has lifted.
You are feeling sorry for about the most fortunate animal on the face of the planet! LOL.

please give him a hug for me anyway.

i am missing Blessing and even had a dream about him a few nights ago (he's been dead for years)

i am tempted to get another bunny but know better and have to remember, he liked to eat electrical cords, pee'd pure bright orange carrot juice on my pale gray carpet, and he cost me a fortune because he was spoiled rotten. he lived past the 'average lifespan' of 6 (10) and was a crochety old man with no love to give at the end.

    ...but he was so soft.

    waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I know what you mean, Pat. I miss every one of my previous little fuzzies at one time or another. I dream of them, too, at times, but it's not a sad thing for me. It's like I get to see them again when I dream. I dream of my Mom sometimes, too, and don't miss her so badly for awhile after "seeing" her again.

Gee, maybe you'd feel better if you drank one of these left over beers?

    Thanks Tom.

    waaaah,sniff,snorkle,honk,whine,waaaah,weep,

cryin' in my vanilla nut coffee, wah wah wah
gonna be startin' the night shift now and

though bleary-eyed, I have lots of kleenex, and
memories of that cute little wabbit, are heavy on my mind,

    boohoo, waaaah,sniff, whine,waaaah,weep, wail,
i know he is a hanging out in a big carrot patch in the sky,

so be careful when it rains that he doesn't pee in your eye.

    boo hoo hoo.

    do wop.

Sal here's one great benifit to all the rain and mild weather we are having here.
Blackberry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Every day this week I've been filling up on them for lunch, and I do mean getting full

The berries are just starting to get ripe here, Thom. I took Munchie for a walk by the river yesterday and filled up on black raspberries - not the small ones like the ones at the golf course road - big plump ones just like your reds. I already made 3 pies out of the mulberries, though - they are earlier. The blackberries are still red. I'm hoping when I go back down the highway to Boise there'll be some ripe ones by Riggens. They are famous for their blackberries and I'm thinking there is just enough difference in climate that they will be ready for the pickin'.

The rhubarb is lookin' shoddy this year, though. I was hoping to get a pie out of that, too - but it won't happen here.

I need to put some rhubarb in, I sure do miss it
The red raspberries in the back yard are doing great though.
There aren't a lot of floricanes from last year, but the ones there are heavy with berries.
There are a massive amount of primocanes that came up this year.
I should have a huge fall crop this year and a heavy spring crop next year from them.

Isn't that the truth, Thom? It started with violets and asparagus and
just keeps getting better. There's chamomile out here, too so I have nice hot tea for cool evenings and refreshing Iced tea for hot days.

There's a drunk dude down the street that made the mistake of bringing me a rose, LOL. Had I liked the guy, it would have gone in a vase...but I didn't have any OJ that morning and.......well, you know. Hahahahahahaha. He fried. Haven't seen him since. Whew. Couldn't help but think of my pal, Thom at the time - the guy who would have had preparation suggestions.

Two days ago I got a 10 lb box of local organically grown apricots for 4 bucks. Some are too ripe - would have been good for canning or jam, though. Just eating the good ones I've already gotten several times my money's worth compared to the stores. And they told me they were going to have raineer cherries in a few days!
