Please help me find Journey! Journey is the sweetest, most lovable dog! She was rescued at the end of December, and has had a great life since!

Journey was last seen on the south side of Lansing, on Balfour (off Miller and Haag) on Thursday 4/16/15 at 10:00 P.M.- where she slipped out of her collar and ran.

Journey is a 45 pound Pitbull/Sharpei mix, and is microchipped.

Please call 517-648-0026 with any information.

Most people here aren't from your area. It might help if you added something like "Attention Lansing Residents!" at the beginning of subject line so you attract the people who actually can help.

    Good luck finding Journey.

Also "journey" makes no sense until the thread is opened. I agree with Dennis. You need to be more specific.

Yeah. Like are burgers offered in the reward, or what? If so, Claude will get his thermals on now, and be out there looking within the hour.

For some of us - a lost pet isn't funny - not every thread in the OT now needs to be a joke.

And you really think a dozen or so of us old farts on the OTF can be in any way instrumental in finding the pooch? Come on Kay. Thought better of you than that.

If you're missing your dearly beloved pet so much, you post local messages and newspapers, leaflets on lamp-posts and trees, knock local houses, etc - but not waste time posting on the chill out board of a GLOBAL IM forum.

          Apology accepted (in advance).

PN, Kay was making a very valid point. Lost animals are sad stories, especially if the animal gets hurt or mistreated.

Yeah. At any given time there are over 50,000 lost animals throughout the world. I'm sure the OTF of WF will use it's resources to the full to find these lost souls.

Get real, Laurence. You don't post in this sub-forum for months on end, then, - when you've probably got no work on, you come in here spouting your earnest words of wisdom.

Yes, it's a sad story that a dog is missing, but this is an IM forum so what can we do? Read my previous post again . . there's a dozen or more things you can do to constructively aid trying to find a lost pet, and believe it or not none of them includes posting on the laughter section of an IM forum.

PN, I post quite often, unlike the "not for months on end" as you claim.

And your comment about no work is also B.S. I ALWAYS have work to do.
But I don't work all day every day as I have a life too.

So if you have nothing good to say, .....

cquinn02 - this isn't going to do much good here. You need to start posting it to FB, Twitter - and any and every other social media outpost you can find. Find animal rescue websites in your area and have them put out the word. Locally you can have people actively watching for your kid. In here, someone in your area might not even ever see the post.

PN isn't joking about a lost pet. He's joking about a post about a lost pet. Big difference.

And there's comments complaining about jokes, and many other things, in the OT. It's time I complained about all the complaining posts. There are members here whose main topic of conversation seems to be complaining about what other people post. It's pretty much all they do. And yes, I am hypocritical complaining about the complaining posts. But don't confuse hypocritical with being wrong.

I'm more tired of all the bitching about other posts here than I am about the other posts. Don't any of you have some neighborhood kids you can yell "get off my lawn" too?

Since this is primarily a marketing forum, and as a solutions orientated person, I suggest the OP take out some FB ads targeting the Lansing area. Set up a pay per click campaign so only people interested in the ad will cost via clicks, while it has the potential to be shown to everyone in the Lansing area. Be sure the add has a call to action asking people to share the ad so it as some potential to go viral in the Lansing area.

Also from a marketing point of view, even though it was a joke, PN's point about the reward is valid. If you're going to offer a reward state what it is for maximum benefit. And as a solutions orientated person, I prefer results over being politically correct, especially when it comes to finding a lost pet.

Of course not. A global forum is not the place to look for a lost dog...duh. Sometimes the DTSJ (different thread, same joke) gets to me. I'll shake it off.

A police canine escaped from a boarding facility in December (Cincinnati area) and was missing for 3 weeks in extremely cold weather. Social media was used to broadcast photos of the dog....last known location of the dog...the reward being offered.

It took THREE weeks - and several sightings of the dog - then someone called to say they thought they had just seen the dog in an empty field...and he was found. Skinny, cold, but OK.

Social media will work far better than marketing forums....

Nice to read a thread that's real.
Makes a change from the "I'm a millionaire here's how" type threads.

Wait; Journey isn't my dog, but a woman who asked me for help. A complete stranger, and I have never even met the dog. However, I love dogs; they are my lifes passion. I can't stand the thought of a dog bolting- which is only natural, they will explore when the opportunity presents itself- and getting lost. Not with all the deadly hazards- like highways- around.

I did get some of the backstory; Journey is a Pit mix- she was used as a bait dog for much of her life, until she was rescued this past december, after she somehow got loose, then was picked up again. If any of you know what baiting is, it is horrible; one of the most inhumane acts a person can do to a dog. In any case, Journey would have known a mere 4 months of peace in her life; for that to end in death, probably by a car, would be (I don't even know how to say it) unfair.

I did facebook this, as well as put up a big ad on my website, write a blog, etc. I was hoping to get others to do the same here; this is just one of the places I posted.
