Just wanted to pop in to say that I made the finals of the last Great American Song contest

This link is to their site listing the names. There are no links to my site. I've removed the sig from this post as well.

I just wanted to share this news with the few friends that I have here.

I'm listed under Adult Contemporary.

I think there were like 1,700 in the whole contest. I have no idea how many in AC.

Sal, I would love to let everybody hear it but if I do, this thread will be deleted. In fact, I'm surprised it hasn't been deleted already as I've been told that anything personal doesn't belong here, which is why I've stopped coming to the forum. I really don't have anything to talk about anymore. I'll PM you the link on my Soundcloud page and you can share it if you like.

I only came here because I know a lot of my friends have been hanging in there with me through my struggles in trying to make some headway in this business. So I wanted to pass along the good news to those of you who I do consider my friends. I see that most of them have seen this thread, though KimW seems to be missing. I hope he's okay. I remember when he finally got his kidney. He has no idea how happy I was for him.

I remember the first time we had our little music trivia contest between us and I thought he was a girl because his name was Kim. LOL. You have no idea how embarrassed I was. Seems like so long ago now.

And of course you and I writing our song together. I still like it even if the judges weren't so enthusiastic about it.

Anyway, the PM is coming, and like I said you can share the link if you like.

Mods - leave this alone please. Steve's been sharing his music here for years and none of us see this as "promotion". .

Steve - just your style. You're good with the ballad. I found the lyrics timeless. In your comments someone said it would be a good song for a movie or play - and I think they are 100% right. I could almost see and write the scene that could go with it.

    Good luck in your contest!

By the way - is that whole tape your stuff or is that the whole class or what's going on with the rest of the stuff?

If you mean the song itself, that's all me. If you mean my Soundcloud page, that's all me too. LOL.

I don't know what I'm talking about. All I know is after I played the song, the audio kept playing other songs. Just wondered if it was all you or a mix from the class or something.

Yeah, that's what Soundcloud does. It just keeps going. Everything you're hearing should be my stuff but sometimes they play "recommended" tracks so it's impossible to say. If you spot a title and can tell me what it is (should show at the bottom of your screen) I can tell you whether it's mine or not.

Thanks Mark. And thank you to everybody else.

Yes, things are looking up. I'm in a better place. Took a very long time. Too long. Learned a lot of hard lessons. Learned to be thankful for what I have and not bitter for what I don't have.

Very busy working on my new business which is finally starting to take off. Building up a name for myself in the synth patch creation community. It's going to take a long time as there are a lot of very big names out there who've been doing this much longer than me. But I'm in no hurry. Already got myself on one beta team, helped QA test another synth for a small developer and have generally kept out of trouble.

It's a little strange starting over and being one of the "little people" but it's also nice to not have any pressure. Some people have been genuinely surprised when I do something that they consider "good" and that's fine. Rather that than they expect the world from me and I can't deliver.

Anyway, I haven't spent a lot of time here over the past 4 months, as I'm sure a lot of you have probably noticed. I think it's best that way. For one thing, I really have too much work to do to make a lot of posts. I have my entire schedule of 7 synths to program for that covers the rest of this year. So I have no excuses to say I have nothing to do.

And with that, I'm going to sign off and get back to work.

I wish you and everybody else here only the best. The WF is still my home, even if I'm on the road more than I'm here.

      Peace.
