ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_Day

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Big crowds this year. 120,000 attended the 5am dawn service in Canberra, plus another 100,000 in Melbourne. 250,000 people attend the Anzac Day march in Sydney.

While I appreciate the thought from you guys, it's not really a "happy" occasion. Around 12,000 of our finest were needlessly slaughtered in an exercise in futility.

To really appreciate what utter folly the exercise was, check out the movie Gallipoli starring Mel Gibson. It was made when he was still considered to be an Aussie actor.

The massacre is also the reason why neither Aussies nor Kiwis hold Winston Churchill in high regard as he was the architect of the whole debacle.

So that blind people can hate them as well.

Incidentally there's an interesting documentary on ABC's iView platform about how the whole ANZAC Day commemoration has been taken over.

    Lest We Forget What?

For non-Aussies it's probably geo-blocked, but since when has that ever stopped anyone?
