Yep, drive your car under one of these things and this could happen?

Targeted ads are coming to a billboard near you

This is what Claude would usually see, when driving his car under this!

And WC!

I have also heard they are going to post add's on Apple watches!

Great, get irradiated at random intervals!

Will the person placing the ad then get an add for a proper word processor?

That is a NEAT idea! A person drives under a billboard, and those behind them see what some stupid company thinks one of the previous drivers might have been interested in! WHY didn't ANYONE think of this before? It is SO much easier than showing the viewer your stupid idea of what you believe they might be interested in!

A friend of mine once had like a meltdown when she saw her name on a receipt! She never told them her name.

That kind of info isn't supposed to show up on a printout receipt, though. The only identifier that's to show is the last 4 digits of the used card. It's an identity fraud hazard to print your info on a piece of paper - could be copied, or lost and picked up by someone. Hand written receipts usually have all the info on them. I'm not sure how they sit legally if someone's identity was stolen by someone in their company. Probably not all that good.

The one that pisses me off is when they start tossing your SSI# around. I was hired by a company once that lost all my ID and I had to sign all my papers again - lost with my SSI, email addy, physical address, phone, about anything anyone could use to steal my identity. I was red hot furious. I told them if I ever traced any ID fraud back to that company they were toast. I'd never have to work another day in my life. Guess they believed me - they found my first set fairly quickly after that little "understanding". LOL. I f***ing hate corporations.

I don't know if it should or shouldn't; I know I see my own name on receipts all the time, and don't think much of it. If someone wants to know my name, it's pretty easy to determine it.

If you don't want a bank to know your name, SSN, etc., then don't give it to them. Pay merchants with cash. But if you choose to disclose your identity to a bank, which then prints it right on the card, as well as embeds the information on the magnetic strip, don't be surprised that a merchant reads and uses that data.

Not what I was saying -- the companies have that info in their systems - it's not supposed to show on a printed receipt that you just used a card to pay on.

You see your name all the time ****NOW****! And HEY, HEYSAL is RIGHT! SUPPOSE some steals or "keeps" your card, or it is misplaced. A crook gets just the number, and tries to use it! They have ONE major problem! One thing could trip them up. The merchant doesn't check. PHEW..........! JUST WHAT HE NEEDED! THE NAME! WOW! If he gets a birthdate, he can maybe get a drop box, and empty the persons bank account! MOST people with a bank card likely have other accounts at that bank!

As for the SSN? Banks demand it, and so do "healthcare companies". And "healthcare workers/companies" request your birthdate ALSO! IRONIC, since the "healthcare" industry has a MANDATE MANDATING that they NOT be so careless! It is part of HIPAA! Want to steal a persons identity? Try a pharmacist or hospital! Of course outside of a bank workers cubical is good also.

And showing only the last few digits isn't good. Most of the numbers on a credit card identify the bank and type of card. The LAST ones, outside of the very last, are for the person. The very last is a check digit and can be figured out! And SOME people decide they want to show all BUT the last set of digits!

This says more about the society than the privacy invading company Google. I think most people would be very upset if they realized how indoctrinated into consumerism they are. Companies wouldn't even try this if people were programmed pretty well. It's pretty Orwellian to me, but then it shocked me when I realized that people were so programmed to consumerism that ads for drugs will be run on tv and people will actually ask to be drugged.

    It's twisted. Very, very, twisted.

Right? Now corp with permission to photo your whereabouts and flashing pics on a busy highway. What could go wrong huh? LMAO. I used to like people generally. Now I'm looking at most Americans as the most bovine humans on the planet. Holy cripes.

I don't care HOW perfect people think photo recognition is. It ISN'T! It can't EVER be! In casinos, law enforcement, etc... it merely takes educated guesses, and shows potential matches that include people that are flagged. It is up to the VIEWER to guess. And a street is a BAD place for this due to angle, distance, lighting. I think the method they would use is VEHICLE ID! They have now, or soon will, require VEHICLE ID on new cars, and gradually over the past decade or so, they have been effectively mandating vehicle ID in some areas for flow control and tolls, in the form of an RFID chip.

This DOES make you wonder though. The government is often "selling their rights" to companies to collect tolls, taxes, etc... The problem is that it is NOT a right! It is a LICENSE LICENSED to THEM to do a public service! THEY do NOT own that road! THEY do NOT own that information! THEY do NOT own the people! So WHERE do they get off SELLING them?
