  • OK OK! These AREN'T a dime a dozen, but they ARE 4 for $100!!!!!! This is NOTHING NEW! It started YEARS ago!


    BTW this is NOT a desktop computer, in the sense often understood! It is simply a little low power(all sense of the word) computer that has no keyboard or screen. It sits on a desktop NOT because it affords convenience and a facility to access resources and act as a hub, but out of NEED! STILL, this isn't the first, second, third, or even the tenth. It may not even be uniquely in the top 20 or even the top 50.

    OH, and they decided to start from SCRATCH, on the OS! Do you realize that there may not be a SINGLE worthwhile computer since 1980, or even earlier, that has EVER done that? M/S started with an O/S that was built in the 70s which was based on one from the 60s. They STILL took from others. Apple did the SAME thing! So did android. And Linux was built on a 60s O/S.

    Good luck getting decent software. Ironically, many may end up putting Linux on it to use it.

  • The article wasn't clear to me, as I still don't know what the hell that thing is. What problem does it solve exactly?

    • The desktop computer never really died. You can pick up a fully fledged PC for around $200.00 at Tiger Direct anyway. Perhaps it's just for the lack of internet and the fact it's got an encyclopedia and other software on it?

    • They want to look like they invented something, or came up with a novel idea. They did NEITHER! The IDEA that THEY claim ownership of is basically a LOW priced computer created for VERY remote agrarian areas like deep in india. You can buy the majority of the guts of such a computer, complete with USB, WIFI, 2GB memory, a 4 core processor, and a REAL USABLE O/S for LESS than $40USD! Plug in a keyboard and a monitor, and you are all set.

      The CATCH is that MOST are ARM! It is a good processor and used in almost every phone, and many other gadgets, but it can NOT run M/S Windows. It CAN run android and Linux though. And NOW, intel and AMD are trying to play catchup and coming out with processors that are ALMOST as good in every way, but CAN run M/S Windows as well.

  • I've had a PC for over a decade and not once has it "risen" at any time. Frankly - I wish a lot of other aps would die. Tired of playing dodge the idiot on the roads.

    The whole mobile vs desktop is stupid.

    There's tons of jobs where desktop is the only option same goes for mobile.

    That OP link looks like a toy, you're defiantly not able to upgrade hardware.
  • Really? I think in this new era we were on, that would be too insignificant. Come on, we are now at a time were smartphones dominate even laptop. so why bother "reviving" desktops?

    • Every single workplace uses desktops for serious productivity. I work in a very large College system. We all use desktops. The Students all use desktops. Most homes have a desktop. Why am I even discussing this?

      Oh, and the next time you have to write a serious dissertation on a smartphone or tablet using your pinkies on a touch screen. Good luck with that.

    I have never had anything but a desktop.
    Never used a laptop in my life. And probably never will.
    God uses Desktop.

  • It looks like a Star Wars stormtrooper helmet. Anything that increases the seemingly quite diminished popularity of desktops is fine with me.

    I wonder how anyone can enjoy using a tiny little phone compared to a full size desktop monitor. Even a tablet.
