It would be idiotic for the CIA to take him out. If he becomes too much of a weighty albatross making too much trouble, he'll probably meet up with an unfortunate accident choreographed by China since he's really more their problem than anyone else's. There would first have to be pre-arrangements to fill in the inevitable power vacuum that would result from it, to avoid chaos.

Ha - they (all world leaders) are just kicked back with their big buckets of popcorn watching to see how much the people in that country will take before they rise up for some whoop ass on their own.

I doubt very much whether that will happen. It's more likely that one of Kim's henchmen will organise a coup, but there won't be a grassroots uprising.

There's also the danger that whoever replaces Kim might actually be worse.

Yea, if his inner circle starts fearing for their lives - even more than they probably already do, maybe they will make a move on him.

There are pluses and minuses to being in his inner circle.

Why doesn't the CIA take him out?

... because it would open the flood gates for MILLIONS of undocumented North Korean émigrés to roll into South Korea and into China. It would make the Soviet Bloc exodus look like absolute child's play.

The South Korean and Chinese government are in no way capable of handling that situation. It would be a humanitarian disaster at an unprecedented level.

The Bay of Pigs deal didn't go so well for us. Plus, just taking out a leader without a well thought out strategy on what comes after isn't very wise. i.e.: removing Saddam Hustein in Iraq.

Horrible way to go- shot by an AA gun

First off, assasinations have been illegal since the Nixon administration.

Second off, why would the CIA waste a bullet on this guy? Yeah, he's totally crazy, but he's no real threat to anyone but himself.

WC shooting blanks at the CIA from Sri Lanka....oh my.

We don't want to take Kim out. Every time we take out a dictator we end up in a war or having to support the country or the country we "freed" ends up in worse shape than ever.
