This is Stylish?? Seriously??

I came across this photo the other day and just shook my head, wondering what women are thinking when they dress like this:

I remember when the "torn knee" look was trendy several years ago (the 90s I think?). I thought it was dumb then. But these "ripped-to-shreds" or "destroyed" jeans take that concept to a whole new level and then some. Nordstrom has a quite a selection of these, so I guess they're quite popular...

Am I the only one who thinks these look nothing short of ridiculous?

  • Hard to tell from the pics.

  • I speak for all straight men everywhere. We don't remember what women are wearing, 5 seconds after we look away. Only other women, and Riffle care.

    • I was out shopping today and saw shredded jeans. They are actually shredded beyond belief. Proud to say I've never bought a pair and can't even imagine paying for something like that.

BTW, none of your pics show up.

  • Honestly, the second and third pair are kinda hot...on the right person. My 24 year old wife would have pulled them off perfectly. My 40 year old wife? She could pull them off, but would feel ridiculous doing it.

    • My wife and I are so square, we would never buy antiques...because they are used. We would never buy jeans like that....because they don't look like new.

Our mattress is covered in plastic sheets. It's convenient, if one of us dies.

The trunk of my car is also covered in plastic sheets. Want to do lunch some night?

    • Fixed that for ya, Claude!

Yep, pretty dumb all right, but in AU, we have no jeans that fit anymore, only dumb jeans that are too long!

Easy. When someone will give you $150 for them.

    • It makes more sense to buy new pants whole, and then when they're worn down... hopefully that will still be in style.
  • They look alright on the Middle picture in the original post, other then that, I wouldn't buy them :p

    • When ripped jeans were super popular (was that 20 yrs ago???) I was right in style....I had jeans I'd worn for years that had some very nice holes in them.

Comments went from "you need new jeans" to "I love those jeans - where did you get them". For years I'd worn those jeans only for cleaning, gardening and horseback riding....all of a sudden they were "mall wear".

      I thought people were crazy.

They're not thinking. That would require a brain, something they are obviously lacking.

I'm always amazed by many of the things that women find 'fashionable.' The funny part is, almost all of the crap is designed by men

  • I offer a service and WSO about buying normal jeans and cutting them to look fashionable.

I also sell men's underwear with back pockets on them.

    Hear are my links....

    • Do you also sell Men's underwear, with a hole in the back? Riffle wants to know.

  • Claude is right. I doubt ANY straight men care if your shoes are what you consider perfect, or match. I doubt any care if you are wearing any designer clothes, etc... I got a BIG kick out of the I Love Lucy show where ricky and fred have a guy design clothes out of old potato sacks, a bucket, and a horses feed bucket and NOT ONLY do the girls fall for it, but a "designer" sees it and COPIES it! I'm sure I just got a kick out of the idea back then. And TODAY? THEY WERE TAME!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY, most "designers" today would NEVER do that! It wasn't crazy enough!

MAN, women's clothing goes all over the place in price! You can get a nice dress for like $100, which is effectively LESS than most male clothing costs on average, to many TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars, which is INSANE! Even MORE insane, the $100 dress has more uses, is sturdier, more modest, etc.... HECK, in a business, they may brag about expensive suits, but NOBODY will care! Once, as a christmas gift, my employer gave me a COMPUTER CASE! YEP, A COMPUTER CASE! I didn't need one, and my old one was cheap and usable. MAN was I shocked when I found out that that case cost over $500!(That was like 20 times the cost of my other ones!) It was leather, and quality, but still not really worth it. I KEPT it, only out of respect. A coworker actually went to a tumi store, and sold it back for about $500! Tumi for Men | Nordstrom

And the idea of shoes to accentuate the calves and make the average womens apparent height closer to that of the average man, is a nice idea, and possibly even appreciated, but is it REALLY worth it? Lady gaga is apparently VERY short, and wants to be VERY tall. One time, in an airport, she went flying because she tripped in her platform shoes!

  • All I know is I am glad this fashion is back. I live in the Highlands of Scotland, when I see some women the other day sporting this design I thought I had gone back to the 90's! Now I know I have not. Thanks for posting...
