No thanks - I would not participate in discussing the value of other people here - or their contributions. If I don't like what someone posts, I put them on "ignore" and I move on. That said, I will occasionally joke about a certain thread or attitudes displayed in a thread - and that, too, is probably a bad idea.

There is no way to gossip about people (which is what this is) without being hateful or at the very least, rude.

You may mean well - but it wouldn't end well.

Normally, yes - that is quite true. I, however am able to rise above that normal occurrence with just a bit more concerted effort. That is because, as my therapist will readily attest to, I am a 'very special' type of narcissist.

I can only tell you what she tells me. :-)

That's right.

Hubby found out very early in our budding relationship that I had one and it was accurate. He had a decision to make at that point and I must say, he made the right one!

Allegandro - you're intentions were good, you just didn't think through the process to achieve them well enough.

Fact is - you can post in individual threads and make comments about what you feel is left out or why you do or don't think the post is a useful one.

Those who really care will listen. There's a lot people on this forum anymore that just are here to try to sell and they will scream about anything of sense you say if it doesn't help them promote their own products. There's another percent that object to anything you say that includes the need to educate themselves or work in any way.

Singling people out base on negative contribution is something a teenager would do. Why not ask them to single people out based on merit or when someone helped them a lot? No, you went for the controversial topic because you thought we would bite... Kinda like a kid who starts a fight and gets someone else in trouble while walking away!

Seriously, don't take it hard. Over the decade I've been here, some of the best minds I've met have hung out in the OT forum - even though they might have been unrecognizable as such because this is where they come to play, be silly, and blow off steam.

You missed the longest thread this forum ever had - it was over 80 pages - and called the "Nonsense thread". It was brilliant - the layers of humor in it. To an average reader it was just nonsense - but to a fairly large group of OTers who were basically all business partners that really didn't savvy the main forum - much of the humor had layers of meaning and was brilliant. That thread started with one line (complete with the misspelling) "If for no toher reason......." (the poster - Tommy, had 666 post count and back then OT posts counted. Within the players on that thread were 4 scientists of varying disciplines, a few IM "gurus", some master technicians, an actual practicing expert in sacred geometry and wizardry, a couple of military intelligence (unbeknownst to most, if not all), etc so on an so forth.

So.........what you see here might be silly crap - but remember, you're in the bar in here. People come to the OT to blow off work, not to contemplate it. The answer you got might have been brutally frank -- um..........oh gee, I guess it was Butters being frank this time........but it was well meant. You were revealing the same negative attitude that you wish to name and blame and got nailed for it. We might be a tad off the wall, derelict, recalcitrant, and crude -- but we're not stupid.

When I got to this forum I was so new that I had to figure out how to make a post -- everything I know about being online, computers, etc. I learned from the "silly shytes" in the OT.

Then later, there was the thread that I broke, lol! I was pretty much a newb during that one.

I don't recall how may posts were in it, but I think it was around 3,000 or so?

LMAO - I remember that one. All started over some dolt posting about the last person on the thread getting a gift. That turned into a roast then into a great thread. I think I got a few pretty neat programs given to me in that thread -- it's also that thread that ended up being the reason I wrote lyrics for that song for Steve W. that he put to music. That just thrilled me, even though it wasn't hit song material.

And you didn't get your gift? Hunt him down - you know exactly which rafters to string him up from.

Yes, apparently someone here who will remain nameless, and is away, add's no value by posting YT videos here, since his channel has gotten 15,000 views all up over the year, and is unfortunately making money.

Nothing will change when he gets back.
