Chrome users roast Google on spit of hate over revamped bookmarks manager

Google's redesign of the Chrome bookmarks manager has begun rolling out to the browser's users running the most polished version. And those users are very, very unhappy.

They're more than that, actually. They hate the change, tossing off words like "disastrous," "hideous" and "horror" to describe their impressions.
Although Chrome beta users complained loudly last year, they were but the opening act to the broader stable channel's users. Nearly 430 people have authored almost 700 messages on the forum thread in the last week, with the overwhelming majority rejecting the new look and feel.

My reaction was not so measured, it began with "I hate you b^stards!"


For now, Chrome users who don't like the new bookmarks manager can restore the list view by typing chrome://flags in the address bar, hitting Enter, then searching for the flag labeled Enable Enhanced Bookmarks and setting it to Disabled. The old-style manager will return after Chrome is restarted.

But those flags are notoriously temporary.

    This update was junk, you can get rid of it, though.

    I had to get rid of it the same day it landed on the browser.

      They are also discontinuing support and usage for VLC media player plugin and it's related torrent streamer ( Ace Stream) Looks like I will be switching to firefox very shortly. Pity, still, Chrome is that little bit faster but has lost a lot of ground since its launch and become unstable.

      They should always give you the option to override the updates, very short sighted.

    The last time I used Firefox a few years ago the thing could barely load it was so bloated.

    It never started out that way. It being bloated is how Chrome got such a massive foothold in the market.

    My only complaint is that to utilize the new bookmark feature across multiple devices, I actually have to log in to chrome on all of them, which apparently does not just happen automatically when I am logged in to my google account.

    That, in my opinion, is really stupid.

    The rest? meh. Get over it. There are real problems in the world.

    Wow great, thanks, I didn't know you could go back to old bookmark. I found it really annoying. Just disabled it.
