  • It was so well known... they really shouldn't have bothered so much. The people know. They have known for a while, when I say a while, I mean almost a century. Fifa runs billions of dollars, that sum of money is bound to bend the rules.

One can't "play" millions, one only invests them. It's why for as long as there is money in it, soccer, elections, wars, religions, universities etc. won't ever be dedicated to their own interests.

Wish they'd go after some of the financial/gov sector crooks, too. I'd say pulling these officials and leaving crooks in Wall street and our gov offices is more than slightly lame. We need more rule of law than just who your friends are and who you pissed off enough for them to go after you.

      That's the point, Sal.

"They" are going after chosen targets. Who didn't know there was corruption in soccer? That's news??? Who didn't know sports figures have legal or domestic problems? But suddenly sports have become totally PC.

People are charged with crimes with no evidence of wrongdoing - crimes that took place 25-30 years ago and with statutes that expired IF there really was a crime.... and they are charged because "he took out less than $10k at a time - PROBABLY to avoid reporting requirements." And, conveniently, there is suddenly an anonymous "witness"....sound like a familiar refrain?

Those reporting requirements (title 31 in casinos, for example) were meant to prevent money laundering. But recently, people have been charged with trying to "avoid the requirements". The law is now being used as an excuse for the feds to step into various situations and control the outcomes. That is frightening to me. People are not being charged with "breaking the law" - but with "intentionally not breaking the law". Huh?

There is a perversion of laws occurring and we are falling for it time after time. By perverting the intent of the law in this way, "they" can decide who to target and who to "expose"....and can choose to leave their friends alone.
