Hi,

I'm looking for a good quality mic to record VSL/audio training.

I heard YETI Studio is great but it's a little heavy for me.

I'm looking for something lighter but with great quality sound
recording.

Any thought?

Thank you

Ryah

I use the Blue Yeti without the base when I travel and need the highest quality sound. You can just put the mic in a coffee mug and it works fine.

However, if you want something of equal quality, that's 1/2 the price and super lightweight but isn't good for more than 1 person at a time, then get the Audio Technica ATR-2100 mic which is what I used for the first 40 episodes of the Travel Like a Boss Podcast before I switched to the Yeti.

'Portable' is a relative term. There are many microphones that will meet your needs and in the end it comes down to personal preference. Suggestions from others are virtually meaningless as everyone has their own favorite, which may not appeal to you.

I have worked through more than a dozen mics over the years. I have never been completely satisfied until settling on the Shure SM7B with a Cloudlifter.

Start there and your search audio quality will be over. Not everyone's idea of portable, but everything is a trade-off. Only your ears can determine which is right for you, but at least the Shure has reached general consensus as about as good as it gets.

And, yes - unfortunately the best always does cost more.

          Cheers. - Frank

another vote for the Blue Yeti - yes it's a bit big - but it's a great quality mic -

Samson makes a pretty good portable condenser mic too.
