I Am Such A %^%$ Idiot

As a marketer, I should know better.

I ordered the complete Big Valley series from DVD Media Star.

Turns out it's pirated and not all the DVDs work right.

Where I am an idiot is that had I just typed in the company name + complaints
into Google, I would have found tons of people with the same problem and
would have never ordered from them.

As a marketer, I should know better and I'm a stupid jackass for being so
trusting just because the site was number 1 at Google under paid ads.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

    Steve,

Don't feel so bad. It happens to a lot of people. Look at it now as an education. You won't do THAT again I presume

I tried. It's beyond the refund period and PayPal says it's not covered under
buyer protection anyway when I put in my claim.

Somebody really needs to shut these people down. They're operating under
so many aliases that it's a joke.

          Steve,

          Don't worry about it.

By the way, I have a bridge in Sydney, Australia that I can sell you at an unbeatable price, with PLR!

          Sorry, I can't help myself.

I can rent you my German Shepherd (my avatar) to help get your money back.

          Ouch!

I also tend to give in to a blind-faith-syndrome on the top positions in the sponsored area of a Google search (okay, I admit I don't look in there often). Have to make a conscious effort to do the usual checks - and now it's reinforced, thanks for the heads up!

Steve - contact the guy's server. Sometimes "somebody" has to start with "you".

Sal, in this case, it's pointless. I've already done the research on this
company (after the fact). They have dozens of aliases and have actually
already been shut down once from what I hear.

There is a thread I can I give you with tons of complaints, still nothing
      gets done.

It totally boggles my mind that there can be this many complaints against
a company and they're still in business.

Steve - did you use a credit card? Usually it is 60 days to file a dispute but they will do a charge back.

Actually I like dirty chargebacks more than just getting a refund for a dispute. That way they get a nice hefty fee as if you're leaving a 'tip'.

Prior to my life on the internet I have been surprised at how scams operate for instance telemarketer 'call centers', etc.

If they get shut down in one state, they merely change their name and move to another state. Once the principle is a felon, he gets a 'joint venture partner' who has a clean record.

No wonder they say prisons are full of 'geniuses'...

... yeh and in that vein, I am guilty many times of simply being too lazy to do due diligence - a "gamble" if you will - I call it 'trust' but it is sloth!

... yes i learned -still too lazy - now I just don't buy anything!

You think THAT is bad? I once hemmed and hawed over going with a company, and eventually did. LATER, they ripped me off ROYALLY! When I was curious, I checked. I found something that LOOKED like I wrote it, described my problem, etc.... It was NOT me, and was written BEFORE I used the company.

I have had my own share of STUPID mistakes. TODAY, I am FINALLY getting CAREFUL!
