I'm appalled - OR, ID, NV --- none of them recognized the year I moved there. I thought they'd give me more credit than that.

      Huh!

      Michigan: Thumb Fire

Over a million acres of the "thumb" area of Michigan were burned in a single day on September 5, 1881. The blaze killed 282 people and the damage estimate at the time put the cost over $2.3 million
I never even knew about that. Of course, I wasn't around back then.

Oh, and in Michigan History in high school, if that was covered, I must not have been paying attention to Mr. Hatch. Well, I was paying attention to him, but because he was so cute, not to what he was saying, lol!

Come to think of it, I don't think it was covered because I got straight A's in his class.

Mt. St. Helens volcano was one of the most amazing and worst of all natural disasters just because of the magnitude of raw destruction.
