Should Warrior Forum ban IP addresses from India?

There was a big thread awhile ago in the main forum complaining about how the quality of posts has taken a nosedive ever since the website was sold to a new owner.

Pretty much everyone agreed that quality had decreased. And one user posted statistics that showed that traffic from the US had decreased drastically whilst traffic from India in particular had increased massively over the last year or so.

Anyone who spends time on the forum will notice this. There is an abundance of low quality posts that are in broken English and ask incredibly basic questions that do not really contribute to anyone's education at all. It's the SEO equivalent of asking "what is 2+2 equal?"

Thus, with the Warrior Forum being infested with these low quality, broken English posts, my question is: should the admins/mods take drastic action to improve quality of posts by removing broken English forum threads, or even banning Indian IP's altogether?

Why would they ban India IPs? Freelancer seeks them out.

They recruited them. They wanted "growth." They got growth.

I never considered that the influx of Indians was actually sought out by Freelancer.

I guess for their own freelancing business that makes sense, but the Warrior Forum itself isn't really a large hub of freelance activity when compared to real freelancing websites. The quality of posts has taken a nosedive since the buyout.

But I guess if that's what the new owners want, that's what we all have to put up with.

Some who used to come here once or twice a day (or more) only come by once or twice a week now, or once or twice a month. Others just stopped coming here, period. Some have even asked for their accounts to be deleted. "Putting up with it" is just one option.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

... and the result of that mindless growth drive is
        When Freelancer took over
        April 12 2014 Global Rank 250

        Now
        6/23/2015
        Global rank 1,136
        Rank India 566
        Rank in US 2,437
        Visitors by Country
        India 20.6%
        US 11.5%
        Search visits 22.4%

In addition, the mindless growth has resulted in loss of profitability of its advertisers, paying members who used to run WSOs and no longer find it profitable to do business here.

          Has definitely slowed WSO section!

That said, the most indecipherable posts (worst English) aren't coming from India but most often from Asian countries and Eastern Europe.

The previous owner posted in the past "sorry, but this is an English based forum - if you can't express yourself in English, you cannot participate here". At that point, this was a US based forum. It's still English language - but with international focus now. Sometimes it's a bit odd.

            India is in Asia...

"In the US, "Asian" is generally a more sensitive and politically-correct term for what people called "oriental" many years ago - China/Korea/Japan/Thailand/Vietnam/Mongolian/Kazakh etc - East Asian and Southeast Asian primarily.

Indians tend to fall under the category of "South Asian", but not "Asian" in general. "South Asian" includes people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Ostensibly, yes - we're all technically from Asia - but people will look at you funny in the US if you refer to an Indian-American or Pakistani-American as "Asian". Russians can be from Asia too, for example."

              Quote above is from:

Are Indian people considered "Asian" in America? - Quora

              Confusing, isn't it?

This has been going on in all other webmasters forums as well. Put it this way, the Indian subcontinent has probably got the highest number of people who routinely use English than the rest of the world put together. As more Indians gain access to the Internet, their participation will surely increase.

I have been worried about the amount of competition in IM from the Indian subcontinent for some time. Be it content that is mass churned, click and link farms. But this is the reality and one must adapt. At least we should count ourselves lucky that there aren't many English using IMers from China. That is because they have their own market.

When the world becomes BRIC centric after September and October of this year, the same question will be asked by those from the BRIC countries.....

Should we ban I.P. addresses from posters with a North American I.P. addresses?

But they would have to do it for different reasons, right?

Great. Can't wait. Because right now the WF is inhabited by a bunch of barely intelligible freebie seekers.

BRIC has been "coming soon" for more than six years now.

It's very possible in the future there will be more "internets" or "limited access internets". But the BRIC(S) countries are having their own economic problems so the idea of only dealing with and selling to each other might not make sense even though they keep announcing new "dates".

The driving force for BRIC is to "cut out the US". If that happens - how long do you think marketers in those countries will be allowed access to the US target market???

It's interesting to watch and I think in 20 years we'll wonder why we didn't anticipate what happened - if it happens, that is.

EDIT: I've read about BRIC and I understand it's far more complex than I'm putting it here. However, I have wondered if this plan would be good for India or mainly a boost for China.
