Where do they buy them

Recently I have seen many, many new/old faces on the forum. They have accounts dating back to 2008 or earlier. Now, I understand some people join and only stop by once a year or so, but this new trend is something else.

I would understand if I only saw a couple, but I have been on threads where several replies come from old accounts with less than 100 posts.

So, my thoughts are someone is selling them, or freelancer is backdating them for people to give the impression they are experienced (even though their posts would prove otherwise)

    After I wrote this post I did a quick search on google,

    pretty interesting

    Maybe freelancer should start purging inactive accounts or change join dates on non active accounts that suddenly come to life, or after a certain time of inactivity, if the user starts up again then they have to reactivate and the join date reflects reactivation.

      I'm not certain that's the whole story these days. I know when FL bought the WF they were said to have created FL accounts for all WF members.

      I've asked the question - did they also give WF accts to old Freelance account holders? I know accts here have been sold for a long time - but not in the quantity we've seen.

      That makes me think some of the "old, new members" were FL members to begin with...I hope that makes sense.

      To me it makes the "thanked" number more useful as it's one number you can't fake here.

      I noticed it because I got a Google alert on my WF user name. I apparently have a profile there. It is a clone of the WF. Haven't bothered to check it out much to see how much of a clone, but I'm not happy about having a profile there.

      EDIT: Just clicked on the OT forum there. It is a duplicate of WF Off Topic, including design and everything.

      EDIT AGAIN: This post is now immediately posted to that site.

    Maybe I'm being naive, but I'd be shocked if the people these folks are trying to prey on even notice the join date of a user when reading their comments.

      I just PM'd Daniel with my suspicion about 3 "new members" - who all joined on the same date one year ago - and all began posting like crazy...today.

          It looks like it's shut down. Did they really think that was a good idea to steal the entire WF and think they wouldn't be noticed?

    One thing I'm noticing more and more of is that wherever these people are coming from they are coming with an attitude. http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ng-online.html

    They are lucky that some of our more "outspoken" members didn't get a hold of them and they only had to deal with Jack and Steve.

      Two of the people in that thread are 2 of the 4 I've noticed so far today....


      same join date of 26 Aug 2014 - never posted until today - all have "real sounding" names - all have posted 25+ times TODAY - with 1-3 line posts.

      Maybe those who "return after an absence" and think people are rude - need to take time to see what's going on before they pass judgment?
