Yes, l am over the media as well, and the endless crap on tv, but l don't have any comment on the reason he went ape-S***!

But l agree it seems that if someone went through hell that that means we should watch this episode of "that so called talent show with screaming teenage girls in the audience"!

Or the media thrash's something like this. I agree he/she, had courage, etc, but thrashing it on tv, don't agree with that!

I literally don't watch tv anymore, why!

Endless sitcom reruns.

Endless murder mystery reruns.

Endless English renovation shows.

And endless "we have seen this several times, already", blockbuster movies.

But we do get latest releases, just as long as they are not very popular or they are some crappy feel good, romantic comedy, but wait, we have already seen those as well!

We can't shoot tv's in AU, anymore. But my style is to trash a particularly annoying tv series, on occasion!

I would like to bring something up.

We are supposed to live in a tolerant society. Many people self aggrandize themselves and pat themselves on the backs for being tolerant of the recent epidemic of (shall we say) people who wish to attract attention to themselves for being outside the norm.

But those same people will chastise the bejesus out of anyone who is not tolerant of circus our country has become.

That to me is one of the worst two faced stances anyone can take.

They expect everyone to be overly tolerant of the topics they themselves choose to be tolerant of, but they aren't tolerant of the people who aren't tolerant.

If you preach tolerance you have to follow your own rules or I call BS.

This is a favorite line of reasoning among those who wish to preserve and defend institutionalized discrimination of any kind.

People can be as intolerant as they want to be as long as they don't attempt to impose their ideas and intolerance on everyone else through laws. You want to discriminate? Go ahead, but there are legal protections and you may get sued. You want a government job but your religion says that you can't perform the duties of that job ... tough. Get a job elsewhere. You want white only restrooms and restaurants ... too bad for you. You want to tell other people who they can and can't marry ... that's over. You think a woman's place is serving dinner and cleaning the house? That's over too, unless you marry a Duggar or Duggar type. You may have to end up working for a woman in this day and age. Don't like transgenders or gay people. That's your problem, not theirs.

So go ahead and be as intolerant as you wish. I can tolerate that as long as your intolerance doesn't infringe on mine or other's rights.

WOW! I expected this to be WORSE, based on what you guys said. I figured a guy used a shotgun(he didn't), in the home(he didn't), from his seat(he didn't), etc....

One person, spoke about how a person deciding to get a "sex change", after so many DECADES no less, is being called "COURAGOUS", and a person losing 2 legs in a war to fight for such freedom is being held in lower esteem. And they certainly have a point. As I have said so many times before... A guy once came up with a format, that became a comic strip, a TV series, and later a few movies. HECK, the concept has been carried over to similar things. The basic format was one where people eschewed the norm, and treated their new life as the norm, and expected others to do the same. What we have NOW, is actually WORSE, though no less weird. At least the addams family was live and let live, and THEY actually GAVE money out, as opposed to expecting everyone else to pay THEM. And the addams family was not only pro gun, but pro BOMB! They liked torture, but kept it among themselves.

But the idea of weird creatures, like caitlyn, weird "marriages", and considering uglyness beauty? It was all there in the Addams family. For those that haven't seen it, morticia, to the delight and agreement of the rest of the family, would, if she got roses, cut the flowers off, throw them away, and display them upside down! YEP, just ANOTHER example of how they were like today. GEE! WWII might have been avoided if that school didn't have such a weird expectation of art and all. I wonder what artists they DID accept! Apparently in a civilized society anything goes!

That is where we are headed, and why rules need to be enforced to keep a society strong, instead of falling apart at the seams!

Some people might think that is fine as long as it doesn't affect me, but is it???

Look at this, only a matter of time before total f***heads like this are allowed to wed!

Who's rules? Yours? A civilized society is tolerant and applies justice and rights equally for all rather than a society of discrimination and oppression. Not your brand of "civilized" that imposes a set of rules based on your way of thinking things should be done or your religious beliefs or your prejudices.

Let's not forget that some people think that males with long hair are effeminate. Has society collapsed because a few males choose to grow their hair long? Should we round up all long haired males and force them to have the traditional "short back and sides"?

Any "society" that feels threatened by non-conformism or ibeing diffeent to the herd is built on very shaky ground indeed, and will inevitably collapse anyway for reasons totally unrelated to a few people being different.

It's a sad indictment of any such society that they will always try to make scapegoats of individuals who don't conform to a very narrow view of the world. It is also very dangerous. At the risk of invoking Godwin's Law, we don't have to look too far back in history to see what happens when a group of people who are "different" are blamed for all the ills of the world.

HECK, if they allow even men to marry men, and women to marry women, than why can't SINGLE people take advantage of the benefits of "marriage"? Did anyone else here see "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry"? It is a GREAT example of what I am talking about. Is it "fiction"? YEAH. Is it based in reality? ******YEP******! Does it ever happen? You can bet it DOES!

The movie is about a person that finds his insurance is not good enough. That has ALWAYS happened, and is likely to happen far MORE now! He wanted to get it upgraded, and they said FORGET IT! I don't know why, but such things have been the case for at least my whole life and, in the US, they are STILL THE CASE! Anyway, the insurance company is allowed to do that unless you have some sort of, AS THEY SEE IT, life changing event! One such event? *****MARRIAGE*****! AND, with recent laws, a marriage of homosexuals counts for this.

OK, Chuck and Larry are STRAIGHT! But they have determined that the best way to allow this guy to change his coverage is to get married. Because they both happen to be male, they have to pretend to be homosexuals. And hopefully you get the point. There are insurance, tax, and information benefits that they ONLY give to people that are married.

Who is to say that the people that SEEM crazy out there aren't doing this for the same kind of reason? I mean WHY would you want to get married in a church if you think a church is HOGWASH? If you feel it ISN'T hogwash, you must believe the ideas in the bible and respect the religion which means you can NOT force ANYONE to change it or go against it, because doing so would not be possible! You would ALSO be against it from a 1st amendment standpoint. So homosexuals aren't doing it because they are religious!

And WHY would you go looking for the one place that would NOT do the job? Can't you go to one of the many that WOULD?

The idea, of these benefits, was OBVIOUSLY to cover the idea of a one worker, two adult, family with kids, but that has somehow been lost in the whole thing. I mean you can't know about a spouse until you marry them, and kids are always a surprise of SOME sort, so it is reasonable to allow them as a life changing event if you are the only one likely to be paying. It also increases impact from taxes, so the tax deduction makes sense. It ALSO means things can happen to other members, and the information thing is a good deal ALSO.

The problem with utopia is that there are TWO ways to do it!

1. Have EVERYONE benefit 100% and get all the goodies! That FAILS, because WHO will produce them?
2. Have everyone work towards the goal, and be rewarded ACCORDINGLY! If you fail in the first part, things can go from easy to IMPOSSIBLE! If you fail in the second part, people will be upset and the first WILL suffer.

REMEMBER. this is the only reason why there are things to argue about! IRONIC, BUT TRUE! If there were no farmers, ranchers, or fishermen, we wouldn't have to worry about feeding the poor and starving, or the transportation to transport the food, or the stores, because there would be NO food to transport!

BTW if you have a small farm, you could probably spend a couple hours, each day, and feed yourself for your life. RESELLING the food requires transportation, sales, agreements, new ways to compete, etc... and is FAR harder.

If you are happy to go take a walk and see someone kissing his newly married sheep, or someone else kissing his Laptop then fair enough, but l suspect most people are not!

Considering that I represent at least 5 classes that are picked on that AREN'T eliminated, I would say your sarcasm is well placed. Then again, the "elimination" requires picking on the REMAINDER, so the plan is DOOMED to hypocrisy!

I mean "affirmative action", for example, REQUIRES that classes be picked on! If they AREN'T, the classes are then equal, and "affirmative action" means NOTHING! I mean WHERE would we be if universities and the like didn't care about sex, race, orientation, creed, etc? WHERE would we be if ALL people were treated the SAME!?

I wish people would realize what the idea of "affirmative action" is REALLY saying! HECK, many in high positions, even at the tops of colleges, government, and companies, are not white, male, or even straight. WHY would you believe that they would favor such only because of that quality?

Intolerance of intolerance IS tolerance. It's the double negative thing we were taught at a young age in English class.

Just like when multiplying a negative number with another negative number you get a positive number as we were also taught in school. And negative opinions about negative things is positive.

The discussion should be about what is positive and negative, not trying to question the logic of not tolerating intolerance. This logic falls apart.

BTW, if we used your "logic", shouldn't you also tolerate the "intolerance" of others? Talk about hypocrisy in your accusations of hypocrisy. It works both ways.
