I have an older computer that another person installed win 7 on it a few year years ago. He was a developer and had some kind of subscription for win 7 licenses. He no longer has that subscription.

The machine is running very slow and is running out of hard drive space so I was thinking of installing a 2nd hard drive and installing windows 7 on it so we get a fresh start.

I don't have a win 7 disk but can get the win 7 product key and product number from the current installation.

Can I use the win 7 product key and product number for the new installation?

If so how can I get a download of win 7?

Thanks Ron

IF you have a valid product key, you can download Windows 7 from Microsoft and install it.

    Microsoft Software Recovery

Let us know how it goes.

Windows 10 is supposed to be officially released in less than two weeks with a free upgrade for Win7 users.

You could move all your important files to an external hard drive now & then try & do an upgrade in a couple of weeks.

Microsoft is currently trying to phase out Win7, it's just a matter of time before they completely drop support like they did with XP.
