    Those little faces are what my Gracie looked like as a puppy - how can you NOT love them?

    I agree with the comments about older dogs. They appreciate kindness and regular food so much because they've never known it. Their personality is right there in front of you and they make amazing pets.

    At the Animal Foundation where I volunteer we have a Walker hound named Todd who had never been off chain - had been starved and mistreated his entire 4-5 years till he was confiscated from his owner.

    He has gone from a dog that cringed if you raised your hand to one that starts jumping up and down when he sees ANY person coming with a leash for a walk - or a dish of food - or hand ready to pet him. He is a bundle of joy and every time I take him out for a walk I come back with a smile. I hope gets a forever home but even if he doesn't - he's far better off at the AAF than he ever was before.
