Yes, my big toe is longer than my second toe... but you're the one who is abnormal :)

For years every since I was born my best friends and family would friendly rib me how my big toe is longer than my second toe.

They all had the second toe longer and insisted that was norm for all humans.

As I got older and around more people in my Life , I would see where there are a certain amount of people whose big toe is in fact longer than their second toe, albeit the correct way

Lets face it, it is much more aesthetically pleasing to have all your toes descend from bigger to smaller from beginning to end

You people with the bigger second toes honestly its look freakish and very unnatural looking lol

Yes this is a silly thread but Iam in a silly mood

My wife has a large big toe, and the other four are the length of the little toe. It's hilarious.

My wife's from Libya and suffers from Cameltoe.

Kurt wrote that one so don't blame me.

I had to check. Second toe is a tiny bit longer.

I don't believe you. Prove it with a picture.

My toe configuration is the same as the Op's The norm (with exceptions of course) appears to be longer to shorter generally.

I worry about my toes a lot. Shall I trim them, or buy bigger shoes, decisions, decisions.

My sister has long toe 'fingers'. Everyone freaks when looking at them but I love them

Her husband wishes if he could just have concentrated more on her toes before marriage instead of her and the other body parts she possesses.

Well, I have to agree with the OP because my big toe is longer, too.

The only reason I could see for toes not descending in size is either some strain of human DNA has them trying to evolve hooves -- or they just haven't completely evolved from tree dwellers yet.

Well, my second toe is longer than my big toe. But on the other hand, my second and third toe are grown together on both feet. This isn't unusual in my family.
Not much of an issue then, except it itches between them ;-).

Chalk me up in the column for "big toe longer than the others" as well. It must be a genetic thing I guess as all my family has a similar toe configuration.

A bloke I used to work with many years ago had all his fingers on both hands exactly the same length though.

Well, sheeesh. I didn't have a clue about my toes so I had to look. My big toe is slightly longer than my second toe and all of my toes go down in a perfect descending arch, each one just a bit shorter than the next. How perfect is that? lol.

Toe length is genetic. Here's an article. Myths of Human Genetics: Toe Length

Or, if you're an idiot, here's an article you'll love.

You'd have to be an idiot to believe anything in that article. According to it, my feet say my ancestry is Egyptian. My real ancestry is somewhere between Celtic and Germanic. which are pretty much the same thing anyway since the Celts are a Germanic race.

I have a friend with his two smallest toes, fused together from birth, on both feet. According to this chart, his ancestry is dolphin.

Seems to be not so unusual, see my post above. Maybe an evolutionary advantage, considering raising sea levels ;-)?

Maybe not an advantage. But we see it often enough to know it's not an evolutionary disadvantage.....Kind of like being left handed.
